Came in this morning and it was dead. Power comes on and that's it. Moved it over to my workbench and connected my POST tester. Displays 00 when power is turned on and does nothing else.
I really wasn't planning on driving 20 miles in the morning rush traffic to Frys to spend $300 on a cpu and motherboard. I guess that will be my XMas present to me.
Replaced motherboard, cpu was fine, memory was fine. I'll see if I can figure out what went flaky on board later.

(47,165 posts)Try to get it started with only one memory stick and cpu after re-seating those and also resetting CMOS.

(47,165 posts)last thing I do is take it out and hose it off with a can of electrical contact cleaner. And I would seriously consider trying an alternate power supply if it is marginal on wattage or has some hair on it.

(41,694 posts)Need a known good cpu to try on board and a known good mb to try cpu on.
Been doing this for a long time.
Its just that in recent years almost all my problems and ones like you describe, are power supply related. Sometimes its just a connector on the power supply as well. So this post tester is supposed to indicate what component is bad cpu, bios, memory, video? I have something similar that came with my board.
