I use Eclipse and Visual Studio, and Paint.Net. If those work I should be fine.

Also, I assume I'd have to pay for this at some point?

The new UI takes a LOT of getting used to, as in I hate it, but probably if you have a tablet it is great.

IE7 works fine for me. What I'd really like is an SSD. But even that's unnecessary.

However, it should not matter as long as Alt-Tab still works. I spend almost no time in the OS.

I really just do not have time.

It was an issue of updating the Nvidia graphics drivers FIRST... so... word to the wise, update your graphics drivers before you attempt to run apps on W8CP.
