New iPod to old iPod cable adapter... Does it exist?
Hi everyone,
I'm seeking help.
My cousin gave me a car stereo a couple of years ago that included a hardwired iPod/iPhone 30-pin connector cable. Basically, you just plug this into your iNoun and you can control and play it through the stereo.
Well, because Apple is Apple, it seems they kept changing the pinouts of the connector. My iPod gen 6 isn't fully compatible with the older stereo. I can play music and skip tracks and such, but the stereo can't power the iPod.
It works just fine on my old gen 1 iPod, though.
So, is there such a thing as an adapter that will alter the pinout do that my gen 6 on fully compatible with my stereo?
I searched Amazon but didn't have any luck.
TIA

Can you post the manufacturer and model of the car stereo?

(49,445 posts)My iPod Nano uses the 30 pin connector. (Female)
The car stereo has a 30-pin connector (male) on a cable. The stereo's cable won't power my iPod because Apple changed the wiring sometime between the date of manufacture of the stereo and the introduction of the 6th gen Nano.
I have an older iHome radio with an iPod dock on it; it will not power my New iPod but will power my old one. Same problem, different device.
I am looking for a connector than makes my gen 6 compatible with previous generation wiring.
The stereo is a Sony of some kind.

(3,270 posts)Check for a dirty female connection on the iPod device (since the same cable works with other devices).
Any 1st - 6th gen. cable will work with your device.
