Both of my computers (desktop and laptop) are Windows 7 Pro and I'm happy with them.
But now I am being subjected every time I turn either one of them on, to hurry up and reserve my copy of Windows 10.
I don't want those ads, and I don't want Version 10!
This is really annoying. How do I get those ads to stop? I haven't seen any way to stop them.
Thanks in advance!

Go to "Programs (uninstall a program)" in the "Control Panel" under category.
Click on "View installed updates" on the top left corner.
Find KB3035583 and uninstall the routine.
Then Reboot the computer to finish the uninstall.
If you need more information, reply to your thread or PM me

(2,943 posts)The sneaky Windows 10 update alert is the result of KB3035583 update, a Windows 10 upgrade preparatory package. The update created a new directory in C:\Windows\System32\GWX and installs some executables and files that serve as a notification tool that could display banners and other ads for Windows 10 as the launch date approaches. Meanwhile, the GWXUXWorker.exe file acts as the Windows 10 downloader.
The Windows 10 update notifier behaves according to the phase and how close to the Windows 10 launch is. Digging through the config.xml file reveals the phases that Windows 10 launch could be in, such as None, AnticipationUX, Reservation, Reserved, RTM, GA, UpgradeDetected, UpgradeDownloadInProgress, UpgradeDownloaded, UpgradeReadyToInstall, UpgradeReadySetupInProgress, UpgradeSetupCompatBlock, UpgradeSetupRolledBack, UpgradeSetupFailed, UpgradeSetupComplete and etc.
Its possible to disable and remove the Get Windows 10″ icon and notification window, by uninstalling KB3035583 update, which was delivered as recommended update to Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Starter installed with Service Pack 1 (SP1) early April 2015.

(4,482 posts)Now I can't find the article. I did uninstall KB3035583, but the Windows 10 notification reloads on my computer, too.

(2,943 posts)Also, there is a link on the page for a removal to program which will help.
A simple explanation is that if you try to opt out, the Microsoft routine KB3035583 will make a new directory with a few executable files to continue the marketing strategy.
Here is the deal, Windows 10 collects more information than any other Operating System on the use of the computer and sends it all to Microsoft. Why Microsoft needs to know what apps you use and how you use them with a keylogger is beyond me. Some of these functions can be turned off, but not all. Windows 10 seems to more about Microsoft collecting information than the customers who are buying a license to use the operating system.
