Google yanks Chrome support for Windows XP, at long last

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/04/14/chrome_50_ends_windows_xp_support/

There’s one less hideout for Windows XP hangers-on when it comes to browsers.

Google’s Chrome 50 for Windows, Mac and Linux has been released and Google’s browser will, finally, no longer work on Microsoft’s legacy desktop.

Also no longer supported are Windows Vista, OS X 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8.

It will be Microsoft’s XP desktop that will arguably be the most significant development.

are there any browsers that still are supported for xp.

Otherwise I will have to get a new computer. And this one still works fine. I am just starting to see the glitches in chrome.

I was only including it to be exhaustive.

NOTE TO GENTLE READERS: Stop using Internet Explorer, even version 11! Unless your work forces you to. It is NOT safe on the internet!

On my XP machine, I tend to you either Yandex (a Chrome clone) or Opera (now also a Chrome clone). I rarely have crashes unless I am not paying attention and open far too many media heavy tabs. With max memory of 4 gigs (3.4 usable) I can safely open over 75 tabs and still code in NotePad++, run Thunderbird, and a few others apps with no problems.

I used them when they were still a pay-for product back in the late 1990's. I hated that they stopped development on their own browser engine and went with the chromekit. I still use it on occasion but I prefer Yandex these days for security and Chrome compatibility. The sync'ing across various systems is a big help for me giving the amount of different computers and platforms I use daily.
