How do websites try to get attached/opened on my computer?

Malwarebytes has been displaying messages every few hours about blocking the website Trojan. This happens when I haven't been doing anything in particular. I have websites open, but I haven't been taking action. What's triggering Trojan trying to get open on my computer?

1. Webpages these days (as opposed to 13+ years ago or so)

often 'do stuff' without you doing anything. Just the page being open can be enough. An example is a site that shows sports scores that updates automatically. Or the map on Doordash that shows where your driver is w/your food.

Figure out which site is doing it, and stop going there.

And/Or figure out if others are having the same issue with Malwarebytes, could be a bug/false positive and there's really nothing wrong with the site.

OR it's not really malwarebytes at all, it just looks like it. Some bad stuff mimics the look of anti-virus software to get you to click on things.

I've always wondered why we're supposed to trust message from Microsoft, etc.

Not sure where the message appeared in this case, but you should always be very wary of any warning that's originating in your browser.

Software that's natively installed on your computer (like anti-virus stuff) will alert you either by a popup from the the operating system (in which case there should be an icon for it in your taskbar) and/or in your notifications list (bottom far right button on taskbar in Windows 10), and NOT within the browser window. ALWAYS be leery of any kind of 'alert' within the browser itself.

Phones I don't know nearly as well ... but android and apple software tends to be more secure generally.

2. It's not a website called 'Trojan'

Trojan or trojan horse is the name for a type of malware which, like the original trojan horse, contained a nasty surprise.

It means that malicious software is hidden inside something benign looking. Be grateful that Malwarebytes is blocking it.
