Assuming I have a laptop compatible, and I think I do, what reason is there NOT to download 11?

I use apps like Netflix, Prime/Amazon, Hulu etc. I dont use much else other than basic surfing, email etc.

I have a newer LG...

But my monitor is a 50" TV

I use about a TB downloading every month.

Edit: Roku isn't through the computer actually. It is accessed outside the computer through the roku menu on my TV.

I have a 4K LG OLED. I think the user interface for the settings and smart apps is horrible.

It's just easier to use the Windows PC to send signals to the TV.

4. Assuming your needs remain minimal, what do you think Win 11 will do for you?

Why be a trend-setter when you are a minimal user?

Why open yourself up to potential trouble?

Even reinstalling the same operating system can be problematic. It's all fine until something goes wrong.

You have much to lose (like time and energy). What will you potentially gain?

And eventually you will have to use it as they wont service it, but that isnt for 4 more years.

8. Elliot, if your computer is currently doing fine, I suggest you not do this.

I have been traumatized in the past by Microsoft's ideas about upgrading.

Five years ago, they forced Win 10 upgrades to a lot of older computers that could not handle it. Older computers ran worse under 10.

Remember Vista? They fixed Vista by creating Win 7.

Your mileage may vary, but again, why do it? Just because they gave you a pop-up?

Four years from now, you will have options. No need to do it now.

You have a chance to do what some of can't in life -- save yourself!

that's the decision I made about 11. For the noodling I do on my laptop 10 is good enough for me.

10. Win 10 was made from the ground up to deliver ads, while accumulating the user's "telemetry."

This is why MS forced the upgrades five years ago, literally tricking people into upgrading with misleading pop-ups.

I am sure (without having actually researched it), that MS has improved its ad delivery and spying-on-the-user techniques in time for Win 11.

It should install a pc health check app and tell you if the pc is ready for win 11. Software that runs on windows 10 should work as far as I know.
