Need printer help.

I have an HP Officejet 7612 printer that hasn't been used for a while. I turned it on and it said I needed to replace all ink cartridges, which I've done. There's paper in it, the print driver is there but when I select it on my computer and hit print, it goes through all the motions and the paper comes out but there's no image.

Same when I use the copy function.

Anyone have an idea?

I'd have to get someone to do that for me.

One other question. I put the new ink cartridges in, does something have to be done for the ink to flow?

Modern cartridges are also the print head and have some sticky stuff to prevent drying out and damage until in the printer.

New cartridges shouldn't need cleaning. They should just work.

cartridges as well, not substitutes. I don't think it's the cartridges.

I getting other feedback that it might be the printer heads that need cleaning. I'm running that cycle.

never seen one that didn't have tape on it to protect it until installation. I would also run a test and alignment page.

18. There's no tape. They're HP 933s. I don't think they're the problem.

I'm running the head cleaning cycle on the printer, suggested by another poster.

There's nothing on the pages I've run so far so there's no running of tests or alignment pages.

16. Can you print a test page?

If a test page prints blank, I would have to agree that the print nozzles need cleaning. I think you have enough input on that.

By purchasing a 15c diabetic syringe and some ISO alcohol and squirting it straight onto the print heads. This is on a Brother printer - but still may be possible for you.
