I suggested Firefox safe mode from the programs menu. I'd really like to hear the outcome of this.

Can he get http://google.com to respond? Is it just DU that won't?

Cable or DSL? Is your DSL or cable logged in, has it lost its password or is it down or shut down, is the check still in the mail? All the connections tight? Any plugs lost their locking nib? The modems lights are on, right?

Just DU:
Was DU's IP put into the fast-access file so it would not have to look it up and now DU's IP changed?

I can't remember the name of that file.. I used that about three computers ago. Can't even search for its name. XP has that -- somewhere.

At work? Is DU banned? Or, is VPN active and work bans it?

Spelled right?

1. Delete all DU bookmarks! He needs to start fresh.
2. Completely clear his browser cache, including cookies, temp files, saved pwds, etc. Everything.
3. THEN try to access DU "cleanly" by typing the URL in the address bar.
