Help ... please, from the computer genius's at DU

Cross posted from The Lounge

and please make it in layman's terms.

My computer keeps going wacky at this site. Things are fine, then every once in awhile when I read a post some overlay the one above. It will clear when I refresh. However it keeps happening. Also, when it is whacked out the type on the"post a new discussion thread" is so small I can hardly see it! Oh and my smilies become smaller and out of line. Going blind here. This does not happen all the time.

I have a Toshiba lap top and running windows 7....any clues how I can fix this. I have no problems elsewhere! This is making me crazy!

Thank you in advance for anyone that can help me.

For some reason, I think you might be using Explorer.

In any event, try a different browser!

Try Firefox, Chrome or SeaMonkey. IE has improved a lot in the past 10 years or so, but it still lags behind others for formatting sites correctly.

Here's my first suggestion. Install a program called CCleaner:

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

After install, open the program and tick all the boxes in the Cleaner under the Windows tab - except Wipe Free Space because that action just takes forever. Then, be prepared because, once you've pushed both buttons (Analyze and Run Cleaner) your cookies will be gone so, beforehand, make sure you remember all your log-in passwords for your sites. Then do the thing - Analyze and Run Cleaner. Then click the other tab for Application, tick all the boxes and do the Analyze/Run Cleaner thing. Reboot and fire things up.

See if that helps.

If it was CCleaner, that's awesome! It's simply a program that does what it says - cleans all the crap. So many times, when your computer is misbehaving, it's usually due to crap.
