Help! Windows 7 update running for five hours now
It has been saying installing update 5 of 5 do not power off or unplug your machine
Since at least 730, possibly before that since the update started around 430 when I clicked shut down. We went out for the evening and just got home and I see the same message I saw at 730 when we left.
Don't I NEED to shut it off at this point?
Help would be appreciated, thanks.

(3,655 posts)My Vista machine stalled on restart but finally went after the second try. It took a long time to restart.

(111,329 posts)and I no longer get the mini windows when I scroll over the task bar. That's OK. It also has less of a tendency to flip over to the desktop when I let go of the mouse to type into a screen, an infuriating habit of Win7 that I'm glad they finally addressed. If I want to hit "desktop" that fast, I'll go to the bottom right corner. Just don't do it to me when the cursor is in the middle of the screen!
My boxes seem to have taken this one in stride, but they've got a superabundance of RAM and that probably made all the difference.
