Video streams fine but no sound.
EDIT: sound works. Had to unplug my external sound bar.

(30 posts)A few little glitches before I read the info, printed too small for humans over 60 to read without a magnifying glass.
Otherwise, watching Netflix and Youtube videos, wonderful on big screen, haven't tried any other sites, but looks good for them, too.
Might buy a biger TV for the bedroom and get a second unit, it's so easy and fun to watch what I want on TV, and not ever see a commercial.

(7,898 posts)Full screen desktop is buggy as heck but it does say BETA in nice big red letters so can't complain about that.
I knew that I could watch a youtube video while browsing in a second tab; but was pleasantly surprised that when watching a video on youtube, I can use the back button on the youtube site and the video keeps on playing.
Still having problems getting local files to play in the chrome browser but that is because Windows 8 is a POS.
I also need to upgrade my network. Cheap bastard that I am; a G network isn't cutting it anymore.
EDIT: not a negative but I hope they can get the youtube cast button working for embedded video. Watching DU videos on the TV while reading comments... Sweet.

(3,033 posts)Hi, can you tell me where you got it? It's been out of stock on Amazon since it was released. I'm chomping at the bit for this new toy! TIA
On edit, I have a sound bar too. Do I need to keep it unplugged to use Chromecast?

(7,898 posts)The soundbar depends on whether it is hooked up digitally or analog.

The sound bar has one small jack that plugs into the tv that's the same size as a headphone jack and one red plug and one white plug the same size as component plugs that plug into the sound bar. I believe that's analog?
