iPad making changes I didn't ask for and have no idea how to reverse...

Just had a pop-up notice that I was being put into "private browsing mode" and it wasn't going to remember anything for me. Say what? I did not see a yes/no option, so I clicked "Done" and by gods I now have a black bar across the top of the screen where all my saved tabs used to be. I don't see any indications how to reverse this, and I had to log back in to DU.

Any ideas?

...feature is enabled" yadda yadda. Please don't ask for a direct quote, as moving from this spot makes me have to log back in.

Basically, they are pleased to tell you what it does but not the name of the appropriate switch to turn it off and on.

I'll keep trying. You guys are helpful.

The word “private” should appear. Tap on it then tap on “done.”

so it reduces. Look in the upper right corner of the screen, you should see “private, +, and Done”. On my iPad, when you tap the plus sign, it opens a regular non-private browser window. You can keep a private browser going and a non-private browser too. I usually do both depending on what I’m doing. The iPad I currently use is relatively new. Hope that helps.

On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open Safari, then tap . Tap Private, then tap Done.

While Private Browsing is on, Safari appears black or dark instead of white or gray.
