Mitt Romney to women: You're on your own

Posted by Melanie Roussell, DNC national press secretary on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 4:29 p.m. ET

Where would Mitt Romney advise women in need of critical health care services to go if Romney "got rid of" Planned Parenthood? “Well, they can go wherever they’d like to go—this is a free society,” he said yesterday in response to a question posed by a student in Peoria, Illinois.

The truth is that many women cannot afford to go “wherever they’d like to go.” If Romney had his way and eliminated Planned Parenthood's federal funding, women would be on their own for the critical preventive care they need to detect and treat many forms of cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, sexually transmitted infections, and reproductive issues.

Mitt Romney is wrong for women, and he cannot be trusted to protect women’s access to affordable, quality health care. Get the word out: Watch and share our latest latest video.
