Is it just me?

The last week or so I have seen some really "insane" comments being made. One poster said president Obama was a colossal failure. Some have compared him to Nixon, Reagan and W. I just read a thread today where a poster made the comment that another 9/11 would be better than the NSA "spying" on everyone and others supported the comment. I mean 3,000 senseless deaths is OK with people?

It seems like insanity has taken over the boards. I see new posters making comments that would usually have gotten them removed from the board, and now they have followers that agree with they obvious hate for the president. There was a poll where at least 12, the last time I looked, people said they supported Rand Paul over the president!

Facts mean nothing to some here, and a number of people seem to think their lives are so important that the government it listening in and recording everything they say. It is like 2010, expect this time there seems to be more right wing, and Paul trolls coming and to keep things stirred up.

Sorry to rant, but somedays it's just to much to take in.

I usually don't spend to much time posting, read mostly, but the last week I just can't help reply to some of the more radical posters comments. I think a lot of this has to do with fear. When people "think" the government is out to get them it can really affect the way people see things. I hope once all the facts come out over all the "scandals" people will calm down some.

Seems I get attacked whenever I post about any subject.

I was told that Obama was worse than Stalin, because I pointed out what I see as "faux" outrage here on DU.

The wealthy have been destroying the middle class for the last 25 years... the economy sucks... and the Republicans have stalled all of government. And there are people on DU here that think the biggest problem we are facing is "spying on all of us".

Americans are so easily distracted.

How about campaign reform? How about public education? How about corporations screwing the country with tax avoidance? ow many people don't have proper healthcare? How much does healthcare cost in the United States compared to everywhere else in the world for the same treatment?

Go throw your cellphone in the garbage if you think "spying" is the number one outrage we should be fighting against.

is a sign of desperation, knowing in their gut, that they are losing. And when bullyrethugneocons get desperate, they automatically, overreach. They can't help themselves. They did it with Benghazi, ending with egg on their face.

The same with the IRS. Issa won't release the transcripts, because he knows it will make him look like the -gdf- fool and slime that he is.

Now we have another misogynistic, ignorant comment made by "another legislator, that thinks they are our pastors or god", but wants small government.... Exhibiting again, that most of the teahadists are mindless morons. The only ones that aren't, are only in it for the power and money, being very savvy, immoral businessmen. Think Myth Romney...........

Much of this not escaping women with invasive procedures and denying contraception, minorities who have been and are getting the most incredibly sickening, disrespectful screw-over in the past few years by the right.

And those 90% pro - ID checks people.

There is so much more, but there are so many issues that would unite people to take action against congress and the senate, with marches or whatever. And to work hard for 2014, is vital! Then that will allow President Obama to be unhindered to put forth the best for us, that he sincerely wants.

When I see whats happening in my dear, adopted state of NC, it gives me hope.

There is usually a reason for this - a change in patterns.

and I'm guessing Obama is working on something as secret as that 2 years he worked on Osama and the rats are panicing and flailing and using anything to bring him down.

I think Greenwald is part of this. And he has someone much larger and darker looming over his sorry ass too.

I suspect that this summer's r'f'ck fest has largely to do with pressure on PBO to commit troops to Syria. UK has been champing at the bit basically since Libya fell and they are the grand masters of dirty tricks. Naturally that's where Greenwald is headquartered, at the Guardian of all things convenient to UK foreign policy including wikileaks. Not good.

I post only on threads that I feel are "safe". I don't bother to read the anti-govt threads anymore. It seems extremely libertarian on much of GD. I'm a democrat, not an anti-govt libertarian.

I have been doing much the same, staying out of the "heated" arguments about the leaks. Seems that the trolls, and I think a lot of them are Paul supporters, have been doing a great job of stirring things up and keeping the arguments going.

I don't mind so much people disagreeing on the issues, but when people who are supposed to be democrats start blaming things that started years back, and got worse under Bush, on president Obama, well that's just crazy!

I got called "sheepish" on here just for making the speculation that some of these type of posters might be undercover RW or libertarian disruptors. When you think about it, that claim doesn't really sound too farfetched because many of Obama's biggest DU critics (I won't name names) are rarely anywhere to be seen on threads about any good news or on threads that discuss some messed up things the Republicans are doing (like with voter ID laws). Every post I see from these handful of posters is related to some recycled outrage against Obama whether it's this recent non-scandal, or Obama's secret master plan to eliminate Social Security. All of them come off as knee-jerkers who are quick to blame the President without letting all the facts come in and analyze how the laws can be changed.

I don't normally like using the "ignore" button, but so far I think I have at least 2-dozen DUers on ignore because I have just gotten tired of seeing all the ugliness here--the paranoia about freedoms being lost, the comparisons of Obama with Bush or Reagan, the allegations of him being a DINO or "center-right"...if I was into reading that type of stuff, I would be on FreeRepublic or in the Yahoo comments right now.

There seem to be a lot of people stirring things up and trying to keep the board divided. The name calling is way out of hand, and it seems to be used most by some new posters who have only posted negative things about the president since they arrived. To bad we also have some long time posters who have been anti Obama from day one, and are ignoring the obvious troll posts and instead helping keep things stirred up.

I simply don't understand why it is allowed to the extent that it is, as as for the posters themselves, I have to wonder at their motives. I feel that if I start using the Iggy button again I will only be sweeping the problem under my personal rug, and that it will only get worse without me realizing that the nature of the site may have changed permanently.

I feel like I'm about to be deleted for complaining (ooo, Meta), but like I said, this is really painful for someone who joined in 2002.

they will use any issue to do it. it's not even about disagreement on the issue or how much concern they have for the issue since they almost never post on doing anything about it.

the only point of it is to get people to hate Obama. "do you hate obama yet" "worhsipper" and other crap .

it's a fucking Democratic board. and these dumbasses are upset that there are people who don't hate the President, that there are people who actually like and support the president and they come on here to attack them.

i usually hate discussing politics on other boards, especially non political ones since they are always full of wingnut crap. but what i have been noticing is the wingnut attacks on Obama are similar to a lot of the attacks you see on here.

i have no problem with some criticisms of Obama. i disagree with him on things. the Syria issue was the latest . but the difference for me is i don't start seeing it as evidence of him being evil. these peopel are not just disagreeing and then discussing ways to change things. it's all about how horrible and evil Obama is.

The paranoia is at a fever pitch. I hate to admit it, but it's at the point where I'm enjoying the show; some of the stuff being posted here is you-can't-make-this-shit-up comedy gold.
Some of the threads read like Freeperville, but with better spelling.

The trolls rev up the paranoia, and the sheeple (that would be those who always accuse others of being sheeple) just swallow it whole. They fall quickly into their respective roles: the resistance fighter who will die with sword in hand (cue 'Bravheart' opening theme), the perpetual victim who replies to every OP with "we're all doomed", and the ever-popular survivalist, who's planning to cut up his credit cards, empty his bank account, and live off the grid where Big Brother can't find him.

And you're right - facts mean nothing to them. If one CT gets cut down, they invent another one within minutes. Anyone who makes a public statement that doesn't fit their CT becomes yet another CT: "Who's pocket is HE in? What are they holding over his head? What threats were made? Who GOT TO HIM?"

But again, I have to admit how amusing it all is. I've had more laughs here in the past week than in a very long time.

Just remember - DU is not the real world. So try and spend as much time as possible in RL, where the majority of people are not fuckin' lunatics.
