Contact your local democratic committee to see if you can offer your home to someone who will be involved at your level (I'm assuming from the nation headquarters.)
House a Summer Fellow!
P.S. Not that I did not do this myself... however, my sister is visiting me and SHE wanted me to say this as I show her around DU!

(11 posts)Lots of people want to know what they can do to help Obama win his second term, but they have neither time nor money.
Hosting someone in your home from out of your area is one way to help, at no expense. An extra room is all that is required.
If more individuals did something, this election would be much easier for him to win. Heck, If more people just took the time to be informed and to vote, this election would be a no brain-er. Think about doing something if you really care about this country.

Anyway, thank you for the EXCELLENT information, U-girl!

(48 posts)Most of my family on my Mom's side is strongly Democratic and progressive, with the exception of the youngest uncle (but we've completely cut him off). One of our closest family friends, also a Democrat, owns a hotel right outside our hometown. I'm going to contact him and see what he can do to provide people with discounts or if possible free accommodations!

(48 posts)The rates sometimes change from time to time, depending on if there's an event in town. Sometimes the rates go up anywhere in the neighborhood of $10 to $20 a night for a room. If he knew in advance, maybe he could just up the rates a bit on the other rooms and depending on how business is it would be covered.
Then on slower nights it's not a big deal anyways since you wouldn't be getting the money anyways, so either way it would be fine.
