Teacher Was Late To School 111 Times Because Of Breakfast

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- An elementary school teacher who was allowed to keep his job despite being late for work 111 times in two years said Friday that breakfast is to blame for his tardiness.

"I have a bad habit of eating breakfast in the morning and I lost track of time," 15-year veteran teacher Arnold Anderson told The Associated Press.
He was late 46 times in the most recent school year through March 20 and 65 times in the previous school year, the arbitrator said.

Didn't know there was a checklist marking everytime he walking in the door 2 minutes late until they tried to fire him after working there for 15 years?

Sounds like he got on the wrong side of a real POS administrator.

Regardless of class schedule, you are expected to report at certain time established by contract and end-of-day by contract. If the report time is 7:30 AM to sign in and your first teaching class isn't till 9 AM - tough shit. And if your last class ends at 2 and the contract says you are to stay till 4 - again tough shit - you stay in the building and sign out at 4.

Checking someone 2 minutes late for 2 years silently only to try to fire them after you think you have a slam dunk against them is something only a real asshole would do. The administrator that caused this debacle should be fired if anyone should be for gross incompetence. I'm sure the mind that thought this was a good plan is messing up a bunch of other stuff we will never hear about.

that if the boss wants to get rid of you, they'll find a way to do it. I worked for a boss that at the sign-in time he would take the sheet down at exactly - to the second - one was expected to sign in. Real prick. But we covered our co-workers asses by signing in for them until he caught on and required us to actually sign the sheet rather than just simply check it.
