Missing Man Found After He Walks Up To TV Crew Doing Story On Him.
LIMINGTON, Maine (WGGB/CNN) A Maine man who was missing for more than 14 hours was found safe Tuesday morning after he walked up to a television crew getting ready to do a story about him.
Search and rescue teams spent more than 14 hours searching an area of Limington after 73-year-old Robert McDonough, who has dementia, disappeared Monday afternoon.
Around 6 a.m., search teams were briefed and started to intensify their effort.
It was going into the second operational period, which means were starting to ramp up, use a lot of GPS technology. We would have pilots, ATV, K-9′s, says Lt. Adam Gormely of the Maine Warden Service.
Just as our ABC affiliate in Portland, WMTW-TV, was getting ready for a live update at 6:30, a gentleman walked up to their crew and identified himself to us as Bob McDonough.
After speaking with him for a few minutes, the crew from WMTW called the warden service, who, along with a family member, said that was in fact, Bob.
