Thai couple killed by lightning were on honeymoon

Authorities say the couple was sitting on this bench
when lightning struck, killing them both.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - A relative of a Thai couple who were fatally struck by
lightning in northern Arizona says the two were on their honeymoon at the time.

Aram Kawewong and Ratchaya Tantranon were killed July 23 by a bolt of lightning
at a scenic overlook in Fredonia.

A cousin of Kawewong - Jeralynn Kozak - told The Arizona Republic that the couple
were married July 10 and were near the Grand Canyon as part of a West Coast tour
for their honeymoon.

Years ago I was with friends at Great Sand Dunes National Park, watching a storm in the distance.

Our hair stood up and the zipper on my girlfriend's jacket began to crackle.

We ran like hell down the dune.
