NOPD: Inoperable fake police car stolen from movie set contains explosives
The New Orleans Police Department is looking for a Ford Crown Victoria reported stolen from a movie set in the CBD on Monday. NOPD spokesman officer Frank Robertson III said the car, which is marked as a police car, contains explosive material.
Robertson said the car was reported stolen from a movie set in the 300 block of South Rampart Street. He said the car was immobile and had to have been towed. The vehicle's doors contain explosives that make small bullet holes when detonated, Robertson said. The NOPD has released a photo of a similar car from the same movie set.
It's possible that the production company moved the car to another of its sets, NOPD spokeswoman Remi Braden said. The NOPD will continue to investigate the missing prop as a theft just in case, she said.
The NOPD said that anyone who finds the car should use caution and call NOPD at 911.
