Democracy for America Endorses David Schapira (AZ-09)

Burlington, VT – Today, Democracy for America (DFA) endorsed David Schapira for Congress. Schapira is the best candidate for Arizona’s Ninth Congressional District and the true progressive in the race.
"David will fight for the needs of Arizona’s Ninth District,” said Jim Dean, Chair of DFA. “Not only does he believe in strengthening the education system, which is vital to our country’s future, but he knows how important education is to the strength of our economic prosperity. David’s got the right ideas for creating jobs, protecting our seniors, and keeping Arizona beautiful.”
Schapira will end taxpayer-funded subsidies to Big Oil, and will push for more green energy solutions for the country’s sunniest state. He has also been a strong advocate against turning Medicare and Social Security into a voucher system - a privatized system that if pursued would diminish the livelihood of our seniors, all stances he advocated for while serving in the State Senate as the Democratic Leader.
Schapira responded to DFA’s endorsement with enthusiasm. “I’ve been proud to work alongside Democracy for America, fighting for progressive values in Arizona and across the country,” said David Schapira. “I am honored to have their support in my campaign for Congress. I believe that every individual should have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream and receive a quality education. With DFA’s support, I can continue to share my positive message with the voters of AZ-09 and earn the right to represent their values in Washington.”
