Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumMcCaskill is right that Sanders should have denounced the whore comment last night. HRC ROOM
Hillary is not the enemy of working people. The gop is!
That comment was allowed to stand and his campaign knew it was said. Sanders did not have the courage to challenge his own surrogate.

I have no idea if that is true or not.
I am just passing along what Jane Sanders said this morning.
I just don't understand what that speaker was thinking to use the word whore. Not good.

(30,058 posts)new team, one who does not send him out to talk with the wrong information or probably just go out and say it, the damage will be done and then we can give another excuse like Sanders did not hear the remark, I wonder if he has heard the remark at this time.

(25,111 posts)Look at the comments from his surrogates. "Hard working" people only support BS. "Whore", "Corporate". UGH, it sounds like they are hoping for a GOP in the WH.

(15,370 posts)that the remark is dominating today's news cycles instead of all the other things that His Magnificence accomplished yesterday.
I have certainly not seen it "dominating" the news cycle - only being mentioned, as it should at the very least. All other Bernie activities seem to be receiving equal time and certainly "dominating" the news cycles much more than Hillary's are.
But it would also be nice if the M$M also mentioned what an ungrateful jerk Paul Song seems to be in this context.

(55,894 posts)Not for someone running for POTUS. And not for someone running as the Democratic nominee. And not when that term is used against your fellow Democrat running for the nomination.
It's just not acceptable verbiage for a Democratic political rally. Even IF it's a rally against a Republican.
It's verbiage best left to the streets or the internet.

(4,187 posts)It has traditionally been used to disparage women, and the word still conjures up the image of a woman, not a man. When someone calls a man a "media whore" or a "corporate whore", perhaps part of the insult is that the man is being called a woman (the horror!).
I'm also against the disparagement of prostitutes. Instead of blaming the men who hire prostitutes, we still blame the women, who are probably in the business just to feed their families.

(685 posts)It was said. Bernie reviewed the text of the speech beforehand, allegedly. Own it Bernie, don't wink wink nudge nudge apologize to anyone who happened to be offended.
In fact, say it tonight on national television. Follow it up with "and any powerful woman who is a democrat who doesn't agree with my vision for America is also some kind of a whore."
Print it on a damn hat. Bernie.
And then see how America votes.

(86,650 posts)addressing of this problem came in a tweet, did he really tweet it himself?
This event brings to light a point that has been coloring my thoughts about our candidates.
Yes, both are older (Bernie a WWII baby while Hillary is a Boomer), and both have been in the political system a long time, but from diametrically opposed positions even though they inhabit the same party-ish (I know Bernie has been an Independent all these years but he has caucused primarily with the Democratic side) positions on many things.
This grittier portion of the primary cycle is bringing to the fore the evidence that Bernie is an older white guy who really only perceives the plight of women and minorities through listening to others, even his wife is insulated from much of the discrimination due to her being married to him... a successful white guy and not being in pursuit of a public career herself.
Hillary, on the other hand, having intended to pursue a public career from early in her adult life has endured not only the condemnation that strong, successful women endure, she has also had to deal with being married to Bill for all his fantastic points and his failings, they have been thrust upon her as a trait of her own in the public realm furthering the cost to her on her path.. and this is even before noting that she was voted/placed in the top 100 attorneys in the USA; was First Lady for two presidential terms and one who was active in support of her husband's administration showing that the First Lady can be a working component too, you know, like Eleanor Roosevelt; she then became a US Senator, a presidential candidate, and Secretary of State! With a resume like that, any white guy would have an easily accepted campaign and an easy win for the White House. But Hillary was not born with male genitalia so she can't be revered as being at least as qualified as a man... not to the misogynist crowd, which is larger than we think. (Note: In the position of FLOTUS one is expected to be supportive of the POTUS's policies and campaigns to promote policy often include the FLOTUS, whether she agrees with them or not is another story and falls into the realm of political decorum... either speak in support or remain silent.)
With all the major problems this country has created for itself and for others by male leaders, I am more than happy to choose a woman (actually, I would like to see Congress dominated by women) to lead us... one who is practical, knows how the whole political world (and I mean the whole planet) works and knows that women need empowerment and has the resume this one has. Sure, this woman has made mistakes but none any worse than any other politician but I find that she is different is a monumental way... she admits them and apologizes when necessary AND she learns from these mistakes and adjusts her policy stances accordingly!!!
To put it in simplest terms, I like Bernie as a Senator and think that's where he is most effective because I don't think he knows how to juggle the whole world all at once while that's what Hillary does for a living.

(9,494 posts)I have friends who know Bernie personally from back in his Burlington days. I know exactly the kind of human being he is. I am sad that he has managed to take so many naïve people in with the tired old ideological crap he has been spewing for decades.
But I am happy that he has already lost the nomination and he will soon be going back to the Senate where he will be even more disliked than he already has been for so long.

(5,049 posts)This is about his Machiavellian nature. He is running one of the nastiest campaigns seen in modern politics. He allows his various surrogates to do the dirty work and let's the campaign gloss over any damage long after it's been done. Meanwhile imperious Bernie smugly insists he the only decent politician in Washington DC.
His campaign is cynical and mean spirited.
