on Saturday ahead of a trip to Greece was a political statement, Pope Francis called it merely common courtesy, and said anyone who sees it differently needs a psychiatrist.
Bristling? It looks like The Pope is quite upset that he was used again. First, Kim Davis, now, Bernie Sanders.
He is NOT happy about this..

(30,058 posts)Probably also knew where they should be in order for the "meeting". If this is used in the next few weeks then it was oblivious what this was about.

(17,086 posts)What Hillary's and Bernie's supporters make of it is one thing, but the fact is that the Pope greeted a guest, and, unlike Davis, he was well aware who Bernie was when he did so. It's silly to think the Pope is mad at Sanders. And it's just as natural for Sanders to have spoken so enthusiastically of the meeting. I'd be pretty excited as well after such an event, and I'm agnostic.

(17,086 posts)Sanders said he had the chance to tell the pope that "I was incredibly appreciative of the incredible role that he is playing in this planet in discussing issues about the need for an economy based on morality, not greed."
Sanders and his wife, Jane, stayed overnight at the hotel, on the same floor as the pope. Francis noted to reporters that members of the Vatican conference that Sanders had attended also were staying at the hotel.
Jeffrey Sachs, a Sanders foreign policy adviser, said there were no photographs taken of the pope and Sanders together. Sanders' spokesman, Michael Briggs, said Francis was "100 percent correct that this was not a political meeting," thanking the pope's staff making the arrangements. He said Sanders and his wife "were advised the night before to be ready to meet the pope at 6 a.m."

(2,442 posts)I also would not wait in a hall way at 4 am to meet the leader of one of an organization that has been historically one of the most corrupt organizations in history. The Catholic courch supported child abusers until it was exposed, takes contributions from the poor in far greater numbers than they provide in charity to the same population, do not employ women in executive positions and do while they have recently said it is okay to back off gays - they do not support the LGBT community. So, in answer to your question, I would not want to meet the pope.

(4,187 posts)You have the entire rest of DU to defend your candidate. It's rude to barge into the one place that is supposed to be for Hillary supporters to discuss the campaign among ourselves.
