and that will help him gain delegates how? Wow.

I suspect he thinks he can fight with the party and do essentially what the drumpf is hinting at, throwing the convention into chaos.

Yeah, I'm getting more excited about going offline for a spell, like until September. Meanwhile I'll be voting for Secretary Clinton in the primary when that comes around.

I'm on the Bernie Sanders e-mail list because early on in his campaign, before it turned ugly, I donated to him. (I supported both him and Hillary; I thought his goal was to help Hillary move left, not destroy her chances at winning the general.) Here is what it says (emphasis mine):

Bernie Sanders for President

Here we come, athena One month ago, we were down 48 points in New York. With just two days to go until the primary, we’ve cut the lead in Hillary Clinton’s home state all the way down to six.

Gravis Poll - New York Democratic Primary
Hillary Clinton: 53%
Bernie Sanders: 47%

Here’s the truth: we don’t have to win New York on Tuesday, but we have to pick up a lot of delegates. This poll shows that if we keep fighting, we may actually have a chance to do both. It’d be the most shocking upset in modern political history. That’s why we have to ask:

You’ve already made a contribution to Bernie’s campaign. If you match that, right now, we can win New York, win this primary, the White House, and take our country back from the billionaire class.

If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Express Donate: $10

Express Donate: $27

Express Donate: $50

Express Donate: $100

Express Donate: $250

Or, donate another amount

The political establishment was already in shock when last week’s debate in Brooklyn ended with the crowd chanting Bernie! Bernie! Bernie! after Bernie’s closing statement. On Hillary Clinton’s home turf! Can you imagine their panic if we do well on Tuesday night? And we can, but only if we keep fighting against the millionaires and billionaires funding Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Add your contribution now.

In solidarity,

Jeff Weaver
Campaign Manager
Bernie 2016

It's clear that he doesn't expect to win New York. Otherwise, he would be saying, "We can win New York!" He wouldn't be trying to minimize the significance of the loss this early on.

ETA: I also get text messages from his supporters, which I find extremely annoying. I never asked his campaign to bother me with text messages.

continue to slander the Democratic Party and our front-runner. But those are mostly side-issues for him. I believe it's all about the money now since he's seen he can haul in $44 million a month and likes that gravy train to continue as long as it possibly can.

This is exactly what turns young people off to politics and makes them apathetic voters as the grow older. Many of the Bernie fans have become so emotionally committed to this man. But he has led them down a path littered with false promises. This is just one more. They have been so blinded by his rhetoric, they can't see the race is over, and in fact has been over for a month. Yes Bernie won "8 out 9 of the last primaries" as he is quick to tell anyone who will listen, but those primaries wins didn't even put a dent in the delegate gap between him and HRC. Now add NY and PA and the other state primaries coming up where HRC is leading, and any sane person knows it's despicable for BS to keep telling his followers,"No, no, this primary doesn't matter, we'll win the next one. Oh and keep sending in your $27."

Was Bernie really in this for the idealism of his beliefs, or to generate funds so he could funnel money to his wife and stepdaughter in the form of salaries, or to fly to Rome on a campaign paid family holiday?

Whatever his motivation, Sanders has sold his acolytes a bill of goods by plying them with unattainable promises. Unfortunately, on July 28th many of them will wake up with a HUGE hangover. My fear is that all those young voters who happily sent Bernie whatever they could, will now be so put off by the deception and shenanigans of the Bernie bait and switch, they'll never become involved in the political process again and well lose a generation of progressive voters and candidates.

Mon Apr 18, 2016, 01:06 PM

it turns out that they are just a politician trying to gain power for themselves by saying whatever it takes to get the voters. Unfortunately the young voters are the most easily swayed, and not yet set in their ways politically. When it's all over, and they finally realize that the emperor has no clothes, they are either disillusioned and turn away from politics, or decide to try and work within the system we have to institute incremental change. Like it or not, this is how our democracy was set up by the men who wrote the rules almost 250 years ago.

I think one of the reasons we have such a low voter turn-out rate historically is because of those who were idealistic and then come to realized that our system is designed to work slowly, and that sudden change just doesn’t happen. People want instant gratification, and if they don’t see it coming, they withdraw. I expect that will happen to a fair number of Sanders supporters, but hopefully they will be able to put the blame where it belongs and not sabotage the Democratic nominee.

We probably won't hear about it until after the next FEC filing due date.

He may have to reach into his own pockets to repay the campaign for that disaster.

20 states to go (actually 14) and less than 200 delegates behind (actually 210)

This is as crazy as that person that claimed Sander was going to win all 50 states.
