Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumTweety Going Off on Sanders and Chuck Toad
Says Sanders is lying when he says Hillary gives speeches to WS while an elected official. Points out that's been illegal to do for decades. Asks "what good is Sanders' scorched earth policy doing?"
Toad says Sanders could lose the election but take over the party with his message. "He's 75," scoffs Tweets, "who is going to take over the movement? Warren? She's not a leader. Not going to happen."

(10,014 posts)He seems torn between Hillary and Sanders and has said as much, but when something bugs him (like this Sanders' claim) he's like a pit bull. (no offense to pit bulls)

"It's undemocratic that the GE is held on a Tuesday in November. It disenfranchises everyone who prefers to vote on a Wednesday in January. We're filing a lawsuit, and Susan Sarandon and Mark Ruffolo are going to visit the Pope to enlist his help as a character witness for Bernie. They're close friends, you know!"

(2,792 posts)Someone like a Bobby Kennedy. I don't see any promising and charismatic individuals like that in Sanders' circle. And it would have to be a genuine Democrat.
Sanders' movement will fade with him.
I feel sorry for young people who invested time, money, energy, and hope in the wrong person. He is not the man they think he is.

(2,792 posts)Sanders appeals primarily to anger, fear, frustration, and hate. You can't build a lasting movement on anger and hate. You have to have the power to draw people together. You have to unify and be inclusive. You have to make people feel good about their party, their country, their way of life. You build on strength and not weakness, solidarity and not divisiveness, realistic hope and not pipe dreams. "Free college" is not a vision of the future. A vision of the future embraces everyone -- young and old, all income levels, all belief systems, all genders, all races, all ethnic and religious groups. You don't attack persons. You attack problems.

(2,792 posts)His appeal is hypnotic, but temporary. People eventually get tired of feeling angry all the time.
His flawed character has deeply hurt and needlessly retarded the progressive movement.

(27,830 posts)I listened to him for years on Thom Hartmann, and I always thought he'd be a good fit for Sunday morning talk shows. But now, deconstructing the past, I realize that he gave pretty much the same answer to every question posed him by Hartmann's listeners (a very sympathetic crowd), and essentially just gave the people what they wanted to hear. I suspect what kept him off the Sunday talk shows was that no one likes him.
