Brooklyn native Bernie Sanders lost his childhood block to Hillary Clinton in N.Y. primary

Bernie Sanders couldn't even win his childhood block.

The Brooklyn native lost by a 20-point margin in his home borough to Hillary Clinton in Tuesday's Democratic primary, falling some 60,000 votes short in Kings County despite his local roots — and weeks of canvassing, rallies and a debate at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Sanders, who grew up along the 1500 block of E. 26th St., lost his old Midwood neighborhood, 56-38.

Pockets of Brooklyn that showed heavy support for Clinton include Rogby-Remsen Village (79%), East Flatbush-Farragut (77%) and Brookville area (76%).

Yay! So part of me won!

My county where I live now, Sullivan County, went to BS, but glad I was there to curtail his numbers and to be one of the one million NYers voting for the Next President of the USA!

"No one in Brooklyn even has the same accent as Bernie Sanders anymore." In other words, it's a very different city than the one he moved out of over 40 years ago.

Maybe having lived in NY for the past 15 years was more valuable than having been born there over half a century ago.

Bernie Sanders moved to Vermont 48 years ago, and he may have never been back before he started running for president. If you were born after 1968 - and most of the people who live in Bernie's childhood neighborhood WERE - Bernie Sanders has been a Vermont resident your entire life. He has no clue as to life in the modern-day New York City. Think back during the campaign for New York when someone asked him one of those "how much is a quart of milk?" gotcha questions. Bernie was asked how to ride the New York subway; he answered "buy a token..."; the New York subways haven't accepted tokens since 2003.

Hillary isn't a native New Yorker but she did move there after President Bill left office in 2000. Since a good percentage of New York residents weren't born there, they accept people who moved in far more readily than people in small towns. (There are probably still people in Vermont who think he's an outsider, even though he's lived there a really long time.)

At the end of the day, all Bernie is in NYC, is the same guy who can't connect with minorities, can't connect with women, and just wants to raise your taxes. It's not that appealing.

You have no choice where you are born and raised. It is when you reach adulthood that you can choose.

Bernie got out of Brooklyn as soon as he could (with a couple of short stints home for financial reasons) and never looked back. He rejected everything about a New York experience by moving to the most un-New York (and un-Chicago where he went to college) place in the US. Good for him, his choice.

Hillary did not have a choice where to live until late in life. Born and Raised in Illinois, College in Massachusetts, congressional staff in Washington, married and lived with her husband in Arkansas (good family values there), followed him back to Washington for 8 years. When it was her turn, she choose NY. In addition, when she was Sen & Sec of State still kept the house in NY (not like some Republicans who's official residents is some hotel room), and Chelsea was married in Rhinebeck NY (about 100 miles north of Chappaqua)
