(3,825 posts)Get rid of your TV service, phone service, mobile service, banking service, data storage, home loan, etc. Could go on forever. They talk, but they don't walk. Typical blindered beliefs that don't have a basis in the reality in which we live. Change takes a lot of hard work, and all they want to do is throw a temper tantrum and resort to name calling thinking that will achieve their goals. I have raised 4 children and I'm very familiar with these tactics. They didn't work then, and they won't work now.

(27,815 posts)... that Skinner has stood back and allowed the in-fighting to escalate for over a year now.
He acknowledged many, many months ago that DU was 85% BS supporters - which means the jury pool was 85% BS supporters - and yet he persisted in letting this imbalance continue. He KNEW that as things escalated, the HRC supporters would get more "hides" and "timeouts" at the hands of BS jurors - but he let it go on and on anyway.
That said, the "can't we all just get along" meme rings particularly hollow. Asking people to play nice - after endless months of permitting some of the most vile political as well as personal attacks to be posted here - is beyond disengenuous; it is downright insulting.
Hiding behind the "juries set the standards of what is acceptable" meme just doesn't cut it. This is a wholly-owned site, and Skinner could have stepped in at any point and said enough is enough. He could have owned-up to the fact that with 85% of the jury pool being for one candidate, the jury system was NOT going to operate in an unbiased fashion. But he chose to stand by and do nothing.
As (now former) DUers have said on other sites, they have had to sit by and watch newbie RW trolls post anti-Democratic bile over and over while they - long-term DUers and long-time donors - spent MONTHS unable to post here due to bogus hides that resulted in time-outs.
I understand his present situation: he can't piss-off 85% of the posters here. The loss of traffic - and thus the loss of revenue - would be catastrophic. But he created the situation in the first instance, and urging people to put their differences aside and play nice at this juncture comes off as nothing less than a self-serving plea to keep DU from imploding.

(115 posts)The ramp up in traffic is illusory IMHO. There are plenty of sites that will allow out-radical DU to steal traffic.

(12,448 posts)since he said that 85% of DUers were Sanders supporters, and he left the jury system anyway. Alerting posts that should have been hidden and asking directly for justice for posts that were hidden by alert stalking are ignored, as are alerts on juries. It's more than a bit disingenuous for him to plead for sanity now.
