Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumThought I'd seen it all but not quite.
Just watched Rachel Maddow's 'The Interview' segment tonight. Guest: Jane Sanders. Not many details here but to sum up: with Rachel's help, it was the most effective 10 minute political ad for Bernie I've yet to see. With each lovely question, Jane smiling sweetly as Rachel tossed her one fluffy question after the next. Bernie's income taxes, which Jane told Rachel in their previous interview, would be released soon? A followup question, perhaps? No, not fluffy enough.
Thanking Jane enthusiastically because she has "thousands of things to do", Rachel noted that to be fair, she had interviewed Jane twice recently but not Hillary or Bill Clinton yet because they hadn't worked it out. But any time, they are welcome.
Then after a commercial break, Rachel ran a video of a closeup of a rotating Bernie Donut, in a donut case, decorated with black glasses, blue background, and 'Bernie'. As it rotated, Rachel said that it is in a local Oregon donut shop in a state where thousands of people attended Bernie rallies in Oregon today. She said that you know you are a winner when you have your own donut.
Normally, I'm not sarcastic in my posts, but it was too much. Perhaps because in my younger years, I was a newspaper journalist and was taught about the value of fair and objective reporting. It was so galling. I had to vent.
Check it out on her website if you can. Worth watching, but do keep a trash can nearby. You may need it.

(24,396 posts)The Sanders cheerleading isn't the problem. It's her self-obsessed way of delivering the stories. Do we really need a 20-minute intro to a story that's insignificant or boring? Apparently so, because that's how she starts every show.

(360 posts)My god! Did you see the one on the day Prince died?
One of the most exciting entertainers ever and she managed to make Prince boring...unreal.

(2,577 posts)They don't give a damn about the actual election. Horse races (real or fake) boost ratings and bring in ad revenue. Besides covering elections like horse races is pretty cheap--don't have to spend all that money on journalists researching the real issues that face the country.

(32,623 posts)She said Democrats aren't fair to Bernie and that the FBI should hurry.
Any journo worth a spit should have asked about those -including some push back reactions from the Jane's target.

(68,867 posts)She said the night of the last elections that Bernie wouldn't be able to win mathematically, and That it was more or less over.
Today, she's talking to Jane Sanders as though Bernie Sanders has a pretty good chance.
That's the problem with modern day journalists, they have too many opinions, some of which are in direct conflict with each other. She must get a lot of Sanders supporters hate mail, which might explain her flip-flops!
Perhaps Comcast figured out that Bernie Sanders still has some money to spend on advertising, so they might as well get their hands on it!
She's also feeding them talking points. Jane Sanders mentioned the platform point Maddow brought up last night.

(3,179 posts)to answer the tough questions. Rachel's been trained to stick to the Bernie script or, heaven forbid, she may no longer be graced with their presence.

(4,640 posts)that was not journalism.
At least Tweety was actually rebutting and refuting it all earlier. That was a pleasant surprise.

(50,559 posts)If having your own donut means you're a winner, what does having an 808-delegate deficit to Hillary mean?

(86,646 posts)and I couldn't watch the last time she was on RMS. What I did notice was that in her shows after each interview she wasn't so softball about what Jane actually said. I will be interested in what Rachel has to say tomorrow. I can't watch JS though, she makes me want to throw my laptop off the mountain and I can't afford that.
Karma baby, karma.
