I say Hooray for Bernie's supporters

This article was posted in the Bernie Sanders group, but it's just as relevant to Hillary supporters as well. I've been responding to many of the BS posters asking what are you going to do after the election? Will your revolution die out just like the Obama revolution did in 2008 allowing the RW to take over the Senate and dominate in Congress? I remind them that real change starts at the ground level in local and state elections, and getting their candidates elected to congress.

According to this article at least some are attempting to do just that. Starting a PAC that will promote candidates with Progressive credentials. So I say Hooray! That's the way to do it. I wish them luck, and if they do get off the ground and become a viable force I'm all in.

This is what the revolution looks like: Former Sanders staffers are launching a new PAC aimed at midterm Congressional elections
The ambitious new plan by Bernie staffers is a giant leap in guaranteeing his movement endures

>>>snip<<<<

here is at least one positive sign that the Sanders movement will not end in November. According to The Huffington Post’s Samantha Lachman, some of Sanders former staffers and volunteers have formed a new political action committee, the purpose of which is to put progressives in Congress.

Lachman writes: “Brand New Congress, which was launched Monday, is looking ahead to the 2018 midterm elections to ‘replace Congress all at once’ with lawmakers who agree with the Vermont independent’s policy positions…A timeline on the PAC’s website says that it plans to form local search committees to recruit organizers and candidates who are new to politics. The PAC says it will codify various progressive policies in a platform that its slate of candidates must support.”

Zack Exley, who helped found the PAC, explained it well: “We learned…that the grassroots are better qualified to run electoral campaigns than Democratic party operatives…They just need to be given the tools, the data, the offices and the structure to succeed.” “We want a supermajority in Congress,” Exley added, “that is fighting for jobs, criminal justice reform and the environment.”

I suspect that they will run a few unelectable crackpots in primaries against progressive Dems in solid blue districts, then fade away when they don't get anywhere.

Like I said, if they do develop into a viable effective Progressive organization, I'll support them. If they are there to disrupt and oppose Democrats, not Republicans, I'll trash them quicker than moldy bread.

That spoke to what people will do in a Trump v. Clinton election.

About 31% of Republicans are disgusted enough with Trump that they will either cross over to Clinton, stay home, or third party it.

I'd love to see what districts they are in. The people who would sit home (5%) could possibly be easy pickings for this PAC in the midterms.

Problem is, 'replace Congress all at once' is not even Constitutionally possible.

Why are we being called to cater to such idiocy? Why would we even want such voters on our side? They sound like a Fifth Column of Incompetence.

They can rally all they want, post on-line all they want but until they get registered to vote and actually vote, then their revolution will be nothing but an on-line rant.

You can't vote from your cell phone.

"A PAC"

More money. Dark money.

"Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss." But we knew that.

The idea of recruiting a Congress full of political newcomers worries me. Term limits in Michigan have been an absolute disaster, resulting in a dysfunctional state government. The U.S. Congress was far more effective when people formed long-term alliances and learned to work together. Constantly filling elected offices with a bunch of novices who don't want to or know how to work with others has handcuffed the government. The Tea Party Repubs are a perfect example.
