http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/5/2/1522281/-No-Bernie-the-superdelegates-won-t-bail-you-out-because-you-didn-t-get-more-votesAfter getting his ass whooped last Tuesday (losing the popular vote by ~764,000 on the day), Bernie Sanders issued a statement saying he was continuing in the race to amass delegates to impact policy at the convention: This campaign is going to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia with as many delegates as possible to fight for a progressive party platform. That was fine. If his supporters wanted to fund that effort, there was no reason for him not to continue fighting for greater influence at the convention. But to win? It seemed as if his campaigns delusion was over. But alas, that wasnt the case.
5) The overall scorecard shows no real Sanders advantage:
Winning low-performance caucuses doesnt give Sanders any particular moral high ground. We all know caucuses reward the candidate with the most passionate supporters, and no one doubts those belong to Sanders. Barack Obama won the nomination in 2008 largely on the strength of performance in those undemocratic caucuses. So theres nothing wrong with working the system to your advantage. But when caucuses are essentially the only game youve got, thats a problem.

(10,014 posts)Sanders 'joined' a year ago to dictate to the Democratic Party and its members 1) what the platform should be, 2) how to run the Democratic Presidential Nominating convention, and 3) how to run the primaries and caucuses. I am sick of Sanders' arrogance and I'm sick of his supporters' arrogance.
I had no problem with Sanders running as a Dem until he started attacking the party and Hillary. Any good that he may have done at the beginning has been outweighed by the damage he is doing now. His constant and petulant accusations that if he doesn't win a primary then it is the fault of the establishment, corruption, or the elite is tiring and wrong. He has screwed the party with his negativity and has convinced his acolytes that everyone is out to get them, that everyone who has a different opinion is evil, and that they are smarter than the 'low information' people who vote for other candidates.
I know most Sanders supporters are just like Hillary supporters and they keep the best interests of their families, the country and world in mind. But those are not the ones getting media time.
As a Democrat, I feel insulted every time Sanders opens his mouth and rags on the party. He should just STOP IT now.

(14,040 posts)That's why I decided against supporting Sanders. Because an all too vocal minority of his supporters sounded too much like the Tea Party for me. I'm a big believer that a politician, including our President, should represent ALL voters, whether I like it or not. It's their job. So, IMO, they have to appeal to a wide-range of voters who will actually show up and vote--I think Hillary can handle that.
