A bunch of well-meaning, INFORMED, good guys.

Glad she's not advocating for our candidate, she sure would turn a lot of people off. But then many of the Sanders followers have done a good job of that.

(67,782 posts)....6 months before the first primary. Things got really ugly and insulting (and I can't even remember who I was supporting at the time!) so I disappeared until after conventions, figuring all the personal stuff about people because of their allegiance would be over.
My observation is that today was a particularly angst-filled day from "them". I figured between Clinton's very well presented economic policy yesterday, her meetings with the entire Democratic representation in Congress, and her quick support for Obama's Iran deal was just too much for them to take in a short period of time.

(135,425 posts)Her role in that effort was as SECSTATE, not as a candidate. Her present role on the Hill is as a surrogate/mouthpiece for the POTUS.
Even when she went up to the Hill today, she was working for Obama to "herd cats" and convince House Democratic members, and later Senate Democrats, of the wisdom of sticking with POTUS and not crossing the aisle to back Bonehead's resolution to try and shit on the agreement.

(297,296 posts)Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton walks with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of Calif. on Capitol Hill in Washington on Tuesday.
"She endorsed it. Full-throated," said Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly, who attended the closed-door meeting.
Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif., said Clinton "talked about the fact that no deal is ever going to be a perfect deal. But we have to have a deal that not just works but measurably moves us in the direction that we hope to achieve."
Still, Clinton warned that the agreement would not end Iran's "bad behavior" in the region, such as sponsoring terrorist actors, and noted that the country remains a major threat to Israel.
"This agreement will have to be enforced vigorously, relentlessly," she said, noting that President Barack Obama called her last night to inform her that a deal had been reached. "As president, I would be absolutely devoted to assuring the agreement is followed."
That's cool.. Obama called Hillary last night!
Hillary Clinton storms the Hill
This is clearly a pro-Clinton caucus, Connolly said.
Clinton took questions for more than 30 minutes. Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Mich.) asked her about Iran, Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) brought up womens issues and Rep. Lloyd Doggett questioned her about early childhood education.

(11,573 posts)a spate of new Congressional endorsements for Hillary this week.
And none for Sanders, after his cheap little grandstand performance. Grace under pressure is a desirable trait in a President. Hillary has it.

(67,782 posts)"Joe Btfsplk was a character in the satirical comic strip Li'l Abner by cartoonist Al Capp (19091979). He is well-meaning, but is the world's worst jinx, bringing disastrous misfortune to everyone around him. A small, dark rain cloud perpetually hovers over his head to symbolize his bad luck. Hapless Btfsplk and his ever-present cloud became one of the most iconic images in Li'l Abner."

(135,425 posts)I can remember hanging about anxiously as a small child in hopes of being the first to nab the Sunday comics--and that strip was a feature in most major publications. It never was my favorite, though...it just didn't resonate with me, but I do remember that guy!!!!

(135,425 posts)but I never liked it. I couldn't relate to those people, they weren't like anyone I knew, they did not look, act, or speak like anyone I encountered. I regarded them as exotic creatures--sort of like reading about a fantasy tribe or clan, far removed from my real life! Plus, I found the goings-on around Dogpatch, and all of the overly physically developed, but dumb, characters kind of boring--of course, I was a kid when I encountered that comic, so that surely colored my viewpoint!
One influence I did take from it, though, was how to transliterate "deep country" English (Yew for you, ed-yew-kay-shun for education, etc.--Al Capp did know how to no-holds-barred put a countrified accent down on paper!).

(67,782 posts)...that always walked around with a raining cloud over his head. As I grew up I ran into lots of people like that - those who always seemed dark and gloomy about everything going on around them.
Another expression I like to use about people like that is "every silver lining has a cloud"

Besides that, some of them have practiced their baiting techniques so much they have mastered the art. It's fruitless on their part, and I'm not sure what they think they are achieving, but no question they are masters at it.
Leave it to 'em.
