Clinton got the idea, Podesta said, after walking many many many times through the ground floor of the residence through the Map Room.
In 1942, Roosevelt remodeled a ground-floor room that was either a ladies reception room, according to the FDR library, or a trophy room, where gifts were received, according to White House Curator Bill Allman, into a situation room equipped with communications equipment and maps where the president could track the progress of the war.
That gives you some sense of the imagination, the scale of ambition that one needs to be able to think about whats happening in the oceans, on land, in Alaska, in the Arctic, to be able to envision whats necessary to prepare the public, the economy for the challenges that are going to face us, Podesta said.

It does help to know the WH - literally from the ground up - and we very much need someone with Hillary's knowledge, competence and work ethic from Day One.

(31,170 posts)consider that there is a "worse" road ahead, but I believe she is uniquely ready for the challenge. I've been trying to think of it like the birthing process....there will be a lot of pain, but the outcome will be so very worth it.
That said, I'd give a lot for a remote control for time. I'd be all over that FF button.
