Dodged A Bullet - Lab Error (Whew!)

Hope it's OK to post this to my friends in the Hillary Group:

Had my annual physical this week, and at age 61 had tests run.

Well, my doctor called me with an urgent message that my psa test (prostate-specific antigen) screening came back at an astronomical number. She asked that I get the test redone as it looked like a lab error. I got the test redone, and it turns out there was an error, but in the meanwhile I had made an appointment with their urologist just to be safe.

The numbers: normal number is 4.0 or lower. My initial test came back at 282.6!!! My retest came back at 2.6.

Some error!

Went from "why aren't you already dead from cancer" to normal in 3 days.

Sorta scary, but it all worked out.

You'd think Quest wouldn't make that big of a screw-up. My doctor said Quest would be hearing about it from them.

Getting old, and you need to worry about such things. Just happy somebody decided to question an obvious mistake before things escalated to the next level.

Two kids still in college and a wife who's semi-retiring in July. Yeah, you sort of flash through the range of possibilities and fight the feeling that you might be leaving them in the lurch. That's what was scary to me.

Our plan covers lab fees but not clinic or facility fees that hospitals charge. So we tell our members to use LabCorp.

to vote for her in the CA primary.

What, you didn't know that Hillary supporters in OC are paid to vote for her? It's true! Otherwise we'd all be voting for Lincoln Chafee.

Glad you're OK. The doublecheck with the urologist is a great idea. I didn't think a 282.6 result was even physically possible!

from the Simpsons. Don't ask me why - I'm a little odd.

Simpsons doctor: "According to these results, you're supposed to be dead!"

Glad it was just an error, though I imagine it was a very stressful couple days.

Fantastic news after a terrible scare.
