Ok, I'm confused re: the 1994 Crime Bill.

There has been a recent influx of posts about how the Crime Bill should hang around Hillary's neck, because, well, she had to be the person responsible for it or something because...Bill. So, vote for Bernie.

Sanders voted for it, right?

1. Right. And he voted for an earlier version too, without the VAWA provision.

So his claim that he voted for it because of the VAWA provision is bullshit.

Sanders had a "Miss Cleo" moment on the house floor about how terrible the bill would turn out and then he still voted for it because as he parses it, there were good parts of the bill. Sanders, beacon of purity, compromised on what he viewed was a deeply flawed bill, and now gets a pass because he can pin it on the woman of the man who signed it into law.

6. So, Sanders voting for something he knew would be bad = OK.

Hillary voting for something after specifically stating she was doing so with the understanding that it wouldn't be used for a purpose that Bush later used it for = the end of humanity.

It's all becoming clear. haha

He voted FOR the 1994 Crime Bill because there were good things in it.

He voted AGAINST the Brady Bill (5 times, BTW) because there were bad things in it.

He's against Wall Street because they're "bad", but he has hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in Wall Street!

He's against big money in campaigns, but he's outspent EVERY other candidate, Democratic or republican, this year.

He's against fossil fuels and the oil industry, but he flew for almost 20 hours round trip in a half-empty aircraft to make a 10-minute appearance at a conference in the Vatican and hang around the lobby of the Pope's residence so he could "bump into" him at 6AM.

8. And his solution to the crack/powder sentencing disparity was to INCREASE the powder sentencing.

That was his "tough on crime" Vermont base pandering.

moved toxic waste from Vermont and Maine to Blanca Sierra, Texas and Jane still sits on the board, earning BOD fees. But, don't worry, Bernie is pure as the driven snow...only Hillary should be excoriated because she wasn't even an elected official...but of course, it is all her fault and she should be blamed for the ills of the world; even 3 Mile Island!

13. Actually the toxic waste never made it to Sierra Blanca, they rose up and fought it...

...so it was shipped somewhere else in Texas. But Jane is still on the board, "earning" $5,000 a year for probably doing nothing.

who are supposed to be environmentalists and defenders of the economically oppressed.

But then, if they can blow off the Brady Bill and his support for Lockheed, what's a little toxic waste?

But Bernie is covered in Teflon and protected by magical non-stick charms and amulets, so that vote doesn't count. Now, move along, Bernie is great, praise be to him.

it's fine. If Hillary is even in the vicinity, whether she had any actual power or not, everything bad is blamed on her.

I mean...come on. He couldn't be more a part of the establishment if he tried.

He's the epitome of what "we" have been fighting against - a bunch of old, white guys running the whole show. Yeah, he's "our" old, white guy, but that doesn't mean he's not still in the club.

And I say this as a middle-aged white guy.
