The Sanders campaign began taking steps late last month to downsize its operation. He reduced his payroll from about 1,000 to fewer than 400 employees. Sanders has pledged to continue in the race until the final primary, June 14 in Washington, D.C.

The latest reports showed that Sanders spent about $21 million on media buys and digital consulting. The campaign paid $17.3 million to Old Towne Media Inc., based in Alexandria, Virginia, and more than $3.6 million to Revolution Messaging, a Washington advertising firm that concentrates on digital outreach.

Wonder what "digital outreach" is?

Wonder what those media/messaging firms are?

Maybe should have scaled back on spending those millions. Maybe try old-fashioned shoe leather of voter registration drives of all those millenials who came to rallies but didn't vote.

He had a couple of big rallies way outside the city proper, one in San Jose and another over in the East Bay somewhere. Both times, his huuuuuge Bernie Bus drove into SF so he and the little woman (aka "Don't stand there!&quot could get some tourist coffees and pastries downtown.

Our local news KRON 4 covered the bus stops, the latest on Market Street. Each time, a handful of BS supporters stood around the bus and some were in the stores they visited. It was more like a couple of tourists on a sightseeing trip in SF. Not remotely presidential whistle stop looking at all.

His followers can't help him pay back the cost of the Rome debacle. He can't use donations to the campaign to pay back the campaign. The reimbursement has to come from him.

And the Bros can't donate money to him directly. By law and Senate ethics rules, a Senator can only accept gifts that are non-monetary and are valued at under $50.00. Gifts from a single person in a single year must total under $100.00.

He has royally screwed himself.

He now needs more pledged delegates to win than are available, even if he got 100% of the votes in every primary remaining.

We have a saying in Texas--dead but too stupid to lie down. That's Bernie's campaign--no money, no path to the nomination, no more claim on the Democratic Primary unless he actively supports the nominee.

Fork time.

Sanders spent like no tomorrow:

This year, Sanders has averaged more than $40 million in spending per month, underlining how quickly he could blow through the cash he had on hand at the beginning of May.

Since he started his presidential bid, Sanders has spent nearly $207 million, about $25 million more than Clinton's $182 million in expenditures. For her part, Clinton has averaged $26 million in spending per month since January.

But Hillary used her money wisely, and unlike Sanders, helped downticket Dems and GE battleground states:

Meanwhile, the DNC and state parties that have benefited from Clinton's fundraising help have begun investing in likely general election battleground states such as Ohio and Florida.
