Weaver-Top Sanders Aid: RNC Chair Did Better Job Unifying Party Than DNC Chair (HRC GP)

Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) campaign manager suggested Thursday that the Republican National Committee has been more successful than its Democratic counterpart at bringing the party together.

“If you look at the Republican side, the party chair there has been working day and night to try and you know, keep everybody together and to try unify the party,” Jeff Weaver told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, referring to RNC Chair Reince Priebus.

The Sanders team has not been shy about suggesting that DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) has favored his opponent, Hillary Clinton, throughout the primary race. Weaver has repeatedly called Schultz “unfair” and the Vermont senator himself said he would replace her as party chair if he won the nomination.

“I think unity in the party is much easier to achieve if we have consensus and a chair who was committed to playing the traditional role that the chairs of party plays,” Weaver told Mitchell. “You know even when there’s sharp elbows and a primary contest, the chair of the party is looking out for the broader interest of the party to make sure the party can come together in the end and we have seen repeatedly from Chairwoman Wasserman Schultz that's really not the role she’s played.”

The notion that Jane keeps putting forth that they are bringing millions of new Democrats into the process is baloney as far as I'm concerned. I actually hope I'm proved wrong on this.

Which means zero net gain.

It's funny how Sanders supporters say that closed primaries are keeping the party from gaining new members, yet most of the new members are independents who had to switch to Democrat to vote in those same primaries. You know...new Democrats. If all of the primaries had been open, they'd still be independents. Net zero.

The RNC didn't bring the Party together--Priebus and other Party heads tried everything to avoid Trump being the nominee and failed. They gave up and tried to appear that they were okay with Trump who is a loose cannon. Trump heading the Party is because they are dysfunctional.

Weaver is busy spinning garbage.

Trump has definitely trash talked his opponents, but he has never displayed the kind of hatred of the Republican Party the way Sanders has the Democratic Party. And Sanders has been that way for decades...

The fact is, Sanders does not want to "unify," and there is nothing DWS can do about it.

And letting go of the presidency is what Weaver thinking? Weaver just runs his mouth, he hasn't been able to put together a winning strategy for Sanders, has sent him out to tell lies, has over spent the money available and he has the time to analyze the RNC as compared to the DNC, give me a break.

He did it by declaring Trump the nominee before he clinched, pushing rivals out of race. Is that what you'd like?

What exactly has the party chair's "working day and night" to "unify the party" gotten out of it? If you say "Donald Trump," you get a gold star!

Sanders should just be a Republican and get it over with. Maybe Trump will pick him as VP!

out. Get it, Mr. Weaver? The F***ing loser needs to get out of fantasy land and stop collecting money from gullible people. Is the entire Sanders campaign completely devoid of any self awareness?! I haven't watched the clip, but shame on Andrea Mitchell if she let that go by without saying the obvious. Good grief.
