Hillary Clinton talks gentrification and urban policy at Oakland diner
05/27/2016

OAKLAND -- Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign took on a local flavor Friday morning as she held court inside an Oakland diner, discussing everything from gentrification to helping ex-felons get jobs.

"That's why I'm here," she told her select group of breakfast-mates, who included Mayor Libby Schaaf and Oakland schools Superintendent Antwan Wilson. "I want to be a champion for Oakland and all the Oaklands of America -- places that have challenges ... but places that are coming together."

Oakland moved into the national spotlight Friday morning when Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, dropped by a Jack London Square restaurant to hear from local leaders about what the city is doing right.

The hour-long discussion focused not only on the type of long-term troubles that plague cities, including soaring housing costs, crime, education concerns and lack of economic opportunity, but also on what Oakland is doing to deal with those problems.

“I want to know how the federal government and me, particularly, can be a better partner,” Clinton said. “I want to be a champion for Oakland and all the other Oaklands in the country,” hardscrabble cities scrambling to come up with innovative solutions to their problems.

but he's got that social media thing going and that seems to be catching a lot of people's attention especially new voters who are registered automatically at the DMV but it gets complicated when you get to the actual voting so we'll see. I'm sticking with 55/45 Clinton.

I think she will, and you know what? She can lose the entire state to Bernster and she'll still clinch the nomination before our polls close.

But don't tell it to the Sanders campaign which is running around like headless chickens spreading the gospel of antagonism and resentment from sea to shining sea. Now they're suing our freaking SoS because of some complication they forget to tell their new recruits about.

Apt description.. you must have seen one.. I know I did when I was 10 years old visiting my grandparents farm in Iowa. Something you don't forget.

Thank you for this.. I'll leave you with Sen Sherrod Brown's verdict on BS..

“It’s peculiar,” said Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). “It’s all about Bernie trying to get the

advantage in California. It’s not going to work.”

We all know.. BS & Sen Brown were buddies on the anti-TPP squad.

And, Sen Gary Peters..

“I don’t know why he would do that. I think it’s time to start to winding down the primary,” said Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.). “It’s time to move on.”

I gather he's going for broke in Cali and dumping the rest of his cash into TV ads, meaning Hillary has to, and it burns me up because every ad for Bernie is one less Trump has to pay for and one more Hillary has to buy and that's just wrong.

BUT if they manage to knock some sense into him and he does what he's promised to do in Philly I suppose it won't all have been a big waste of time. But it sure seems that way.

p.s. here's to ya Cha!
