(9,494 posts)I have no idea what is fact. It just seems odd that she was his top aid and virtually running his campaign. She was appearing on interviews all over, always at his rallies and now she seems to have disappeared.
I was just wondering if anyone knew the story.

(4,542 posts)Asked during a brief interview this week at the Capitol when her husband would return to the Senate, Jane Sanders responded, After the 8th. But she quickly backtracked and said, I dont know. California and a host of other states are holding their contests on June 7. A Sanders campaign spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment to clarify Jane Sanders comments.

(135,425 posts)She has not produced those tax returns, and several newpapers are covering that request by GOP Vermonters regarding her husband's involvement in the issuance of that loan that ended up sinking Burlington College.
This isn't just those right wing sites covering this story, either (though they are having a field day). Vermont Public Radio, Seven Days, and other "mainstream" papers are covering it as well.
The US attorney isn't denying the story, either, and the bank president refuses to confirm or deny, too.

(3,517 posts)She bankrupted a school and lied about releasing their taxes and you can't ask her about that if she's not around
Mostly though, she probably didn't test well with the public during her press tour.

(646 posts)Failure of Burlington College is a big problem for Bernie and Jane Sanders
By James Hohmann May 17 THE BIG IDEA: Burlington College is feeling the burn.
Bernie Sanders is huge on college campusesor yuuuuge, as he likes to saybut the small private school in Vermont that his wife, Jane, ran for seven years announced yesterday that it will shutter because of the crushing weight of debt incurred under her leadership.
Burlington College said its financial troubles are connected to Mrs. Sanderss 2010 purchase of 32 acres of lakefront property, part of a botched expansion plan. The college was placed on academic probation in 2014 by its accrediting agency and it faced cash flow problems due to the imminent loss of a line of credit, The Posts Nick Anderson reports. To survive, the school has tried to sell land but it was not enough to remain solvent.
Jane Sanders was president from 2004 until 2011, when she stepped down amid an apparent dispute with the colleges board. She left with a $200,000 severance package.

The Sanders campaign has ignored repeated requests for comment on Burlington Colleges failure. The uncharacteristic silence is telling.

(6,551 posts)Jane disappeared just after Burlington College announced it would be closing in one week.
Any interview she would do, she would be asked about BC and her tenure there given that she was the president who convinced the College to launch the disastrous expansion plan and the bank that funded it.

(6,444 posts)Only BS and few staff doing the most traveling. Jane staying more in Vermont.
And like everyone stated above she had promised to release more taxes than just the 2014 year.... and .... Burlington College's Inconvenient Implosion.

Tales from the Trump University legal vault
The book told employees to collect financial information from those who attended and rank them by their liquid assets to see who could afford more coursework. And staffers kept hotel ballrooms at a precise temperature no more than 68 degrees at the expensive real estate seminars.
These details and scores of others are embedded in thousands of pages of documents that comprise the lawsuits attacking a set of education courses GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump has boasted about.
Now, the cases brought by jilted students in California and the New York state attorney general accusing Trump of fraud are the source of jabs from his campaign trail competition. Plaintiffs on both coasts allege Trump ran a business that pressured students into buying his expensive real estate courses, which cost up to $35,000, but he didnt supply the training in how to make money on real estate the founder promised. Trump has said that most students were satisfied, and the plaintiffs are looking for their money back.
The hundreds of Trump University seminars conducted over several years were tightly choreographed, the documents related to the fraud cases indicate; employees at introductory sessions were even told to use a blue and gold Trump University logo as their laptop background, and the seminars were recorded.
More details from the voluminous court filings:
Trump was heavily involved in marketing. Its unclear what else.
