Went back a few years ago and was amazed how many towns have become ghost towns. The family farmer is disappearing rapidly.

I'll be anxious to hear what she says. Even bringing up the plight of rural farmer/rancher is a step in the right direction.

The point of the Postal Service is to provide a standardized, cost-effective national mail delivery system.

Alternatives would strip many rural locations, forcing people to drive many miles to the nearest replacement.

Their shipping costs would be greater that what the USPS offers. Right now, the two other delivery services are privatizing profits while socializing expenses. They are using the Post Office to perform Final Segment Delivery--the most expensive part of a delivery for next to no profit at all for the Post Office, perhaps a penny or two per package. Their goal is to prefund the postal pension system and then sell the USPS off to a private equity form, much like what happened with Kay*Bee Toys. If the pension money is leveraged, the United States Taxpayers will have to step in with taxpayer money to save.

But, I digress. The USPS delivers to most residences, which aids those who are shut-ins, disabled, poor, etc. The closure of many of the Regional Deliver Centers coincides with the creation of delivery centers for the other two carriers... planning their final coup d'etat. Higher costs, harder shipping, less options will be the alternative, since these other firms do not want to spend for the infrastructure to replace what the USPS performs, hence, less service for more cost.

There is a reason why FedEX and UPS are some of the top contributors to congress.

Hillary should stress a commitment to strengthening the USPS.
