Clinton says empathy, tenacity make her best Democratic nominee

...........“This election is about who best understands the pressures facing the families of America, and the challenges facing us in the world, and who has the skills and tenacity to tackle them,” Clinton said.

Hundreds of Clinton supporters packed the hall at the Minneapolis Hilton and gave the former secretary of state and senator repeated standing ovations in her 25-minute speech — longer than the 15 minutes candidates were supposed to have. She also drew laughs with a self-deprecating reference to her hair, Donald Trump’s hair and the attention both receive.


Clinton also associated herself with President Barack Obama, who she battled in the 2008 primary before entering his cabinet for four years. She highlighted the Affordable Care Act and the bailout of American auto companies and said America had “come a long way the past six and a half years.”

She ignored her fellow Democratic presidential candidates in the speech, focusing instead on attacking the Republican field. One of her biggest ovations came when she criticized Republicans for not tackling “the era of mass incarceration or say clearly and loudly, ‘Black Lives Matter'” — a reference to the activist movement that has disrupted events of her fellow candidate Bernie Sanders in their demand that candidates focus more on racial justice.........
