Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumI am on with Team Hillary (Hilliary Clinton Group)
I'm stopping my writing chores for a few moments to let you all know that while I initially started out with Team Bernie, the constant attacks against people of color like myself and Bernie's failure to address issues that I care about have convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt to come on board with Team Hillary.
The North Carolina primary is in March if I'm not mistaken and I plan to vote for her. Side note, my first election was in 1992. I was 19 at the time getting ready to go to college and the first vote I ever cast was for her husband Bill Clinton. I was proud of the two votes I cast at the time and I will be proud to vote for Hillary as well. Now, even if she doesn't win, if Bernie becomes the nominee I will vote for him even though some of his supporters have treated me with such disrespect. I just do not want a republican in office and I'm really worried about the supreme court.
Either way, I'm confident that Sister Hillary will come out on top. Every candidate I have thrown my support to with the exception of Al Gore have won so hopefully we'll be calling Sister Hillary Madam President next fall.

(4,713 posts)I don't think ppl realize what a joke his campaign has become to many minorities. When we try to address we just get talked down to so much that we walked away. I live in SC in a very large minority community & we've all dealt with the same issues.

(11,415 posts)And again, to save democracy we must get rid of Citizens United.
I too will vote for a Democrat instead of a Republican. It is the only choice we have to save our country from its state of corporate take over.
I noticed your Union icon.Bernie is stronger there.
We must all vote.

(2,034 posts)Please do a search on the board for that. I am tired of ALWAYS having to prove what I have been through on this site when you can easily go into certain groups and read about the constant attacks certain posters do on people like myself. I'm tired of it and I'm tired of having to defend myself.

(15,438 posts)posts on the thread, even the sub-thread that they're replying to, where I usually post ample evidence of the charges I make in my posts. It's pretty annoying because I darn well know they're not really interested in "proof". They just want to be annoying.

(11,415 posts)I wish people would not accept that they can make statements that slam one side or the other without examples.
I abhor the treatment of minorities in this country, but I don't see it happening in the Bernie faction. If it is I will try to shut it down. Show me who is doing it.

(297,265 posts)damn times.
There was just some anonymous poster on a damn jury spewing ugly at #BLM.. it was all over DU this summer.
Just because you've had your eyes closed doesn't mean everyone else has.

(67,782 posts).....have unions representing more than TEN MILLION union workers endorsed Hillary Clinton and Sanders, "stronger there", has endorsements from unions representing less than 500,000.
And please, do not give me the "rank and file want Sanders" line.
Thanks.

(15,438 posts)steal this one, as well, with their voter suppression laws that will begin this presidential election. SCOTUS hangs in the balance for the Republicans, too, and Scalia and Kennedy, as well as Justices Bader-Ginsberg and Breyer, are set to retire in the next decade. If we fail to take back the Senate and take the White House, we'll have four more RW-Republican justices appointed to the highest court of the land, and that would be disastrous for women's reproductive rights, marriage equality, gay rights, environmental rights, and all civil rights.
We just cannot afford to experiment this presidential election - or any other - until C.U. and ALEC-drafted voter suppression laws in many States are repealed. Too much hangs in the balance to be so flippant. We saw what happened in 2000 when the meme, "Gore and Bush, same difference" was going the rounds. We got disaster.
And as an aside, I don't take Sanders supporters' "need for change" seriously. Unless and until I see them successfully get more liberal candidates in State governorships and legislatures and in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate, their push for a socialist for U.S. President is short-sighted and more about ego than about the country. And I never take ego-trippers seriously.

Coolest Ranger
(2,034 posts)but I'm afraid my voice is getting weaker and weaker. I have already had an hide because I posted something that made a group of people feel comfortable. I'm taking a HUGE risk even publicly voicing my support for sister Hillary. I'm just worried that soon I won't be able to comment at all because certain posters will not like that I'm getting behind her. I am going out on my faith right now that maybe all this hate towards those of us who are minorities won't be taken away from us.

(11,417 posts)We take our vacation and come back for more. In 3 or 4 months this will be a 100% for Hillary board. Then if you don't support her you don't belong here.

(81,297 posts)Really appreciate this! I've been waiting all my life for a competent, qualified, and highly-experienced woman candidate to surface, so I could vote for a woman for President. And we finally have one! And at a time when women's rights are on the ropes, it seems more gravely important than ever.
(And btw, you don't have to be a POC to have been the target of abuse and snark and nastiness from some in the Bernie camp. I'm a 60-something white woman and I have the attack scars to prove it.)

(2,034 posts)I have put the Hard Truth on full ignore. He already threatened to alert my posts because I'm making him uncomfortable. This is the attitude people of color are going through here on DU and I'm tired of it. I'm tired of the personal attacks towards people of color. Can a host take care of him? Thanks

(28,749 posts)I hate to see people form opinions based on how supporters act, but at the same time I feel frustrated that you have been treated unfairly.
My suggestion brush it off your shoulders and get to work helping us get her elected.
I volunteer twice a week now for the campaign, and don't plan on stopping until we win.
