Hillary Clinton Dings Bernie Sanders for Backing Middle-Class Tax Hike
The Democratic front-runner hammers home the message that middle-class taxpayers will pay more to the federal government if her chief rival wins.

Hillary Clinton isn’t letting what her campaign sees as a good hit on her closest competitor die quietly.

“I don’t see how you can be serious about raising working and middle class families' incomes if you also want to slap new taxes on them—no matter what the taxes will pay for,” the Democratic presidential front-runner said Tuesday at a rally in Dallas, referring to her competitor, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and his proposed health care overhaul. The versions Sanders has proposed in the Senate have included a tax increase on the middle class.

“I was actually the only one on that debate stage who will commit to raising your wages and not your taxes,” she said, reprising a line she’d used in Iowa the morning after she, Sanders, and former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley debated last week in Des Moines.

Clinton’s comments, at an afternoon rally that drew 1,900 to a gym at Mountain View College, came after her press secretary, Brian Fallon, issued a statement questioning the wisdom of Sanders’s approach. “If you are truly concerned about raising incomes for middle-class families, the last thing you should do is cut their take-home pay right off the bat by raising their taxes,” he said. “Yet Bernie Sanders has called for a roughly nine percent percent tax hike on middle-class families just to cover his health care plan, and simple math dictates he’ll need to tax workers even more to pay for the rest of his at least $18 trillion to $20 trillion agenda.”....................

Reasonable to me not to raise taxes on the middle class, Sanders has said he was going to raise taxes on the rich, the rich are going to be excluded on this one, again. Sounds like he is protecting the rich, let those who has wages pay, wow.

ACA forcing people to buy insurance but single payer would also force people to pay taxes to cover the cost of care. It may be more comprehensive care which is a good thing but it won't be free.
Also if it is Medicare for all it requires a payroll deduction greater than what we are paying now both employer and employee and there is a once a year first time deductible. Medicare part B costs $105 to $336 a month depending on income.
Medicare part A costs $1,260 per year plus coinsurance for stays over 60 days.
So if Medicare for all is anything like Medicare it won't be free health care.

a complaint--and perhaps someone is doing something about it but it is about cost controls-to the insurance companies and to the actual health care facilities. This was one of the big complaints--on all sides--not enough cost controls in place.

I am also reminded that even Pres Obama said the aca was and is health insurance reform (such as making sure contraceptive coverage as part of the aca, kids up to age 26 insured, etc).

This is what President Obama fought for, and this is what an eventual Madam President will continue to do: raise wages, not taxes.

Bernie Sanders will raise taxes on everyone. Those are his words.

...when pressed by Stephanopoulos about whether the proposed Senate tax legislation he backs, which would use a payroll tax to fund a mandate for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave from all U.S. employers, Sander confirmed that the bill would require taxing all citizens -– not just the top 1 percent.

&quot The payroll tax) would hit everyone –- yeah, it would. But it would mean we would join the rest of the industrialized world and make sure that when a mom has a baby she can in fact stay home with that baby for three months, rather than going back to work at the end of one week," Sanders said.

She's gotten dinged plenty from both Bernie and O'Malley. This is a legitimate issue IMHO.

Obama?!

His health care plan? We have Obamacare in place and that is a strong foundation that can be built on.

“Yet Bernie Sanders has called for a roughly nine percent percent tax hike on middle-class families just to cover his health care plan, and simple math dictates he’ll need to tax workers even more to pay for the rest of his at least $18 trillion to $20 trillion agenda.”....................
