Portsmouth's Lister, Blalock join mayors endorsing Hillary Clinton
< Mayors from three Seacoast cities endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Monday, a day after she unveiled a $275 billion plan to modernize the countrys infrastructure.
Mayors from Portsmouth, Rochester and Somersworth were among seven mayors from across New Hampshire who announced their support for Clinton during a conference call.
Portsmouth Mayor Bob Lister, whose term ends next year, supports Clintons vision for a $275 billion overhaul of the nations infrastructure. He also highlighted her efforts to combat the heroin epidemic and address high student loan debt for college graduates.
Portsmouth Mayor-elect Jack Blalock, who emerged as the top vote-getter from a crowded city council field on Nov. 3, said he heard from residents during the campaign that the local economy has room to grow.
Somersworth Mayor Dana Hilliard said maintaining the citys infrastructure is a never-ending challenge, particularly after the states brutal winters.
New Hampshires roads and bridges
are taking a serious beating, he said, adding that local municipalities like mine are in a constant struggle to pay for needed upgrades.
Aside from infrastructure, Hilliard believes shes best suited to improve the lives of New Hampshire residents.>
