10-year-old moves Clinton with question about bullying

http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/22/politics/hillary-clinton-bullying-donald-trump/index.html

Hannah Tandy didn't attend Hillary Clinton's town hall event on Tuesday expecting to talk about the bullying she faces, but her question about it stirred the audience.

"What are you going to do about bullying?" the 10-year-old Hannah asked, standing in the front row of Clinton's event.

Clinton responded, "Can you tell me a little bit more about why that's on your mind?"

"I have asthma and occasionally I hear people talking behind my back," said Hannah, a fifth-grader eliciting "awws" and applause from the audience and a long hug from the former first lady.

<snip>

"I never dreamed that this would happen," Hannah said. "I was hearing her talk about so many people she had met that were worried about certain things and I never heard her mention anything about someone asking about bullying."

Whole thing is great! Mean people suck! Happy Holidays!

Bullies are the worst freaking thing for people of all ages to be subjected to.. and they're everywhere.. not just in school.

I have been following this event in Iowa, from its beginnings. Keota high school students created a campaign to get HRC to come and speak at their school. I am proud of the students! In a town of 1000, they filled the gym with over 700 of the townspeople to hear and speak to Clinton.

Abby was one of the students who organized this event.

Abby, a 17-year-old student: "I am proud to be your youngest precinct captain on February 1st!" #KeotaGotHillary

It makes me teary to think of all the young women inspired and uplifted by this campaign. "Coached" my foot. No one, especially the Hannahs of the world, needs to be coached to know that mean people suck.

"I learned that not everybody has this opportunity, but when you get a reaction from someone as powerful and as famous as Secretary Clinton, you realize everybody has something in common, from the most powerful to the most poor people in the world," she said. "We all have something in common. We all have human ingenuity and we all have feelings."

A beautiful lesson learned.

Thanks for the post, Starry Messenger.
