Our problem is that we have let the Sanders group corner all of the enthusium

I guess that's normal. The True Believers on both the far left and the far right are always the most zealous and enthusiastic. But we cannot let our far left wing zealots take over our party without a fight.

I guess I lied to myself about no longer fighting the good fight in the Primaries forum.

I'll be damned if I am stand by an let the far left wing of my party put us in the position of losing the Presidency and both houses of Congress plus the opportunity to set the direction of the Supreme Court for the next 20 years so they can stand on their principles and nominate the unelectable.

no one can own enthusiasm, it is inside everyone. If you want enthusiasm, you have to live it. It can't be stolen from you. I would love to discuss your feelings about any kind of enthusiasm in a thread about human emotions not politically related. I am sorry the title just attracted my attention, hee, your fault not mine. now, I have to express my lack of enthusiasm for a blizzard while on a line waiting for gas.

Zealots of all ilks think that enthusiasm is a big plus, but that is simply not the case. One vote still counts the same whether delivered enthusiastically or non-energetically. Think about it. Are you swayed by an enthusiastic monkey bouncing off of all four walls?

However, their enthusiasm causes them to contribute more money their chosen candidate and donate more of their time to his campaign. It causes them to be more effective than we are on social media. That's where the enthusiasm gap effects reality.

DU has no effect on elections and has ceased in any way to reflect the make up or views of the Democratic Party. The odd political breed that now occupies DU has nothing to do with us except as they give aid and comfort to Republicans.

Enthusiasm's fine as far as it goes. Determination gets things done.

I've been asking around and Sanders supporters are composed of people who either wouldn't care if Trump gets elected or feel that Sanders losing against Trump would somehow better their cause of destroying the 'establishment'. They are willing to risk it all for a pipe dream. These are dangerous ideologues we are dealing with, very similar to the ones the right wingers have been struggling with since Obama got elected. They are highly delusional and blinded by fervent ideology, I was hoping that it would never come to this on the left.

We all tend to think of political positions being on a straight line with those on the extremes being on the far right and far left. This theory sheds light on the fact that the far left and far right are more alike than they are different.

in delusion, lies, deeply personal attacks and lots and lots of right wing talking points, fanned by trolls they don't quite seem to understand are simply trolling them.

The sheer weight of the negativity, the hate, the lies and the denial of reality is a bit too much to take. It's like dealing with the paulbots in the last couple of elections, they didn't have a lot of facts, but they were very cult like in their devotion.

This is not the far left wing of the party, it's a bunch of folks who are suffering from Derangment syndrome as I've seen it posted elsewhere. They keep crowing about how they wish to destroy the party, how some are independents who don't give to figs about the party in general. Apparently they don't understand how the Congress works and how few independents are there, especially since Bernie is now a Dem,or why to even do a single thing he's vaguely gestured towards, he needs Democratic control of both House and Senate.

This isn't even about principles either, as they kind of show with their attempts at "backlash" against anyone who doesn't worship Sanders.

And I'm unconvinced that some percentage of these people are going to vote D in the generals even if Sanders were nominated.

Honestly, I've found one or two Sanders supporters with whom I can have a conversation. The remainder simply spew talking points and insults, showing a rather limited depth of understanding of government in general and the Primary process specifically.

Those one or two are insufficient to interest me.

for their guy, not trashing another Democratic candidate on the internet.

Some seem to have truly no clue about Clinton and post easily debunked junk about Hillary. I will occasionally post something if I see that a post is way out of line just in case someone actually wants real information, but otherwise wading into the nastiness isn't healthy for me.

Just now there was a post complaining about a last minute town hall before voting. Post after post was screaming about how horrible it was, and it blows my mind. I see no reason why Bernie wouldn't be up for it and able to do a good job of getting his message across. I like Bernie, prefer Hillary, and don't like what I am seeing from Bernie's campaign much, or the seemingly lack of faith some of his supporters have in his ability to handle a simple town hall.

I am so psyched for Hillary. And hey, I'm old enough to be practical, free-spirited enough to be idealistic, and wise enough to know that experience counts! I was so jazzed for Obama in 2008 because as a white woman who has spent a good part of my life working for civil rights I really wanted a Black president. I wanted a woman, too, so I was torn, but as I marked my ballot, I was totally at peace. Now, 7 years later, I am so jazzed for Hillary! A transplanted Texan (don't hold it against me) I hope to help turn this state blue-- if not in 2016, but maybe by 2020, and I'm more than confident that Texas is Hillary country, at least for the primary. I live in a blue county (Travis, home of Austin) so I'm surrounded by lots of progressives and I see a great deal of enthusiasm for Hillary. I think it will reach even more momentum as we approach Super Tuesday! So once we are done with Iowa and New Hampshire, it's onward to the South and West. Then just watch us ROAR!
