Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumWhat in the hell is going on here?
Here at DU, that is.
I swear it has become a slimmy pit similar to free republic. The anti Clinton venom is disgusting.
I really don't understand it. I tend to hope it is a minority of DUers who will leave or hide after the nomination.
It's really nasty. I had no idea that so many here absolutely hate Clinton. My god, this feels like the US congress!

(23,690 posts)that can realistically be enacted will remain and support the Party's nominee. Those that only support candidates that promise the world, but end up delivering nothing will probably fade into oblivion. And of course the RW trolls who are here only to incite and drive a wedge between candidate supporters should pack up their shit and leave.

(10,845 posts)Heads will explode in April because it will become abundantly clear that Sanders is toast.
My fear is that this place erupts in utter insanity. The mods will have to tombstone many and it's going to get ugly.
When the nomination process is full of invective plus irrationality, the reality of a Clinton nomination is going to hit them hard.
MADem
(135,425 posts)self-regulating--i.e. anyone who signs up--even a troll or a sock--has an equal opportunity to serve as judge/jury/executioner on a post after they accumulate enough posts to serve on jury duty (an easy thing to do-- they can "+1" and "I agree" their way to that status while flying completely under the radar). I think the admins ought to institute a post count AND time-limit (like, say, six months) investment in the site in order to participate in jury duty. The way things are now, people who have been here a week and don't know the culture are weighing in.
The forum HOSTS can shut down a topic for being "off topic" but they can't touch any post past the first post. A thread can veer off into meta and they can't touch it (legally, anyway--that doesn't stop the odd martinet from going to town). In groups, the hosts can just do what they want, but they can't wipe out an individual post, they have to crush the whole thread.

(10,406 posts)Just came back today to drop a new Hillary meme in here.
When they started making up lies and smears about me....and spreading them all over DU and even DI.....I knew it was time to take a step back from the hate and negativity for awhile. It's been nice getting out of the toxicity. I needed to store up some goodness and light for the caucuses and primaries that start on Monday!

(15,696 posts)A few minutes ago, there was pride that BS had called for 3 more debates. The consensus was that that should show us HRC suporters that the kerfluffle over the unsanctioned debate was moot, and BS was the true leader of the party.
Truly heavy sigh.

(7,633 posts)Many Bernie supporters are enamored with the goals and ideas that Bernie set forth.
Who would not be at first glance ? After all, if he could enact all his ideas, we would have universal healthcare, free college, etc..
Unfortunately, there is this little thing called reality..
Once you stop and think at what it takes to do any of these, its pretty obvious that it is doomed to failure. One of the reasons I support Hillary is because while she is progressive, she is also a pragmatic who knows how to move towards realistic goals. On top of this, she is a very strong leader whom I feel comfortable having at the helm in times of crisis. Sanders totally blanks out on that last one, he is stuck on one speed, one topic.
When the strength of your convictions is such that it prevents you from thinking about practical implementations, you have crossed the line from being a political leader to a propagandist or cult leader.

A super-PAC founded by Republican billionaire Joe Ricketts is making its first foray into the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, spending $600,000 on a television ad in Iowa calling Sanders "too liberal," according to the New York Times.
The ad then spotlights two of the policies that have helped fuel his rise in the Democratic primaryhis calls for "completely free" college education and more taxes on Wall Street and the "super-rich."
