More than any other United States president, Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton will be a president for children. In this 2016 primary, we have been asked to consider the differences between the candidates on gun control, their respective experiences in the area of foreign affairs, as well as the practicalities of their policy initiatives on health care and the financial system. Very little attention has been given to Clintons superior record on children.
Perhaps not since Eleanor Roosevelt has a national leader put the welfare and rights of children at so center a stage on a national platform for so long.
Clintons commitment to these issues is staggering in depth and spans four decades. Most recently, it is embodied in the public and unswerving manner in which Clinton, before all other candidates in this race, pledged her support to the residents of Flint, Michigan, who are suffering from a water crisis that is poisoning the citys children. It is also embodied by her cutting edge approach to medical issues facing children, including her proposal, in this campaign, for a broad, first-of-its-kind platform focused on addressing childhood autism.
Secretary Clintons commitment to the well-being and legal rights of children has its roots in scholarship she published in the 1970s. Roughly two decades later, this forward-thinking scholarship contributed to one prominent historians assertion that Clinton was one of the more important scholar-activists in the field of childrens rights in the preceding two decades. Secretary Clintons most famous publication, It Takes a Village, became the extension of her work on the topics of childrens rights and is nothing if not a declaration of her unique focus on issues affecting the children of the United States and beyond.......................

What the campaign trail looks like through the eyes of an artist

Campaigning is an art.

Outside the YWCA in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire, a winter storm is blanketing the city. Theres nearly half a foot of fresh snow on the groundand it just keeps coming down. The morning-drive DJs on local radio stations suggest staying indoors.
But step inside the YWCA, and hundreds of Granite Staters are bustling about, getting ready to start knocking on doors. There are just a few days left until the New Hampshire primary, and a little snow wont keep them inside for longnot when their candidate, Hillary Clinton, needs them to talk to as many voters as possible before Tuesdays election.
As Joni, a 74-year-old veteran volunteer, says in between checking in fellow canvassers, This is nothing. This is just a light snowstorm. And its typical Hillary campaign behavior: Lets get this done, lets do it right, and lets win this election.
..................JEANIE: I was in a local orphanage in the 1950s, when I was 5 years old. I didnt speakI was too frightened. And when I grew up, I found my voice. I found out Hillary had been an advocate for kids since she got out of school. That was the hook for meshe has never stopped fighting for children. She would have been my voice as a little girl. And now that Im retired, its my time to be out there for her. I had this hat made just for the campaign. People ask me about it all the time, and its my introduction to telling them about this very special woman named Hillary Clinton.....................
