The Sanders Campaign and It's Economic Projections Have Crossed Into Neverland

Kevin Drum has an article up, with graph, that shows how incredibly unrealistic the Sanders campaign’s economic projections are and before you summarily dismiss Mr. Drum, he actually mentions in the article he’s gone easy on Sanders because he likes his vision.

I'm sure we’ll see a ‘No we can't’ or two posted in comments.

Gerald Friedman is predicting a decade growth we haven't seen since WWII. These projections are tied into funding Sanders Medicare-For-All plan. Mr. Friedman has been used at every turn by the Sanders and his supporters to give credence to his economic proposals.

These projections are not rooted in reality. Some highlights below, from Mr. Drum.

Sanders is trying to match the Republicans in fantasy economic predictions.

Austan Goolsbee and many other economists are right, "magic flying puppies with winning Lotto tickets tied to their collars” is what the Sanders campaign economic plan really is. It’s fantasy they're selling and if Sanders became President, he would end up disappointing millions of voters.

He'll probably end up disappointing SOME of his supporters, but the vast majority know what he's doing and are simply supporting him to destroy the Democratic Party from the inside-out - the very Party President Obama has and is working tirelessly to make stronger. Some believe it will help Republicans and others believe they're doing something positive. If you live in a world of unicorns, that's a perfectly reasonable position to take, isn't it?

Group think, confirmation bias, social contagion, in-group/out-group mentality
Sanders' supporters are impervious to reality.

10. Beating Jeb? Projections

Per capita GDP growth rate at 4.5% is higher than Jeb?s projected 4% GDP growth rate, deemed unrealistic by economists last year. Guess Saint Bernard needed to up the ante.

More damning is the recent analyses that finds Hillary's criticism of a 40% growth in government under the Saint Bernard program actually too conservative. Sanders would expand the government 50% with not the original $15 trillion price tag but a whopping $20+ trillion cost.

Not going to happen. Which proves?

It's easier to rant about things than to get the real numbers to work.

As I said in an earlier thread, numbers are curious, stubborn things. You can corral and hide them for a while. But they always manage to wriggle free. If you haven't respected the cost-side of your Big Ideas then you're spitting in the wind and taking people for a disappointing ride into fantasyland.
