(130,956 posts)from a 3-point lead (44-41) over Texas Governor Rick Perry to a 7-point deficit against New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (46-39).
Given Chris Christies poor showing in other recent polls conducted in other states, he seems unlikely to secure the GOP nomination. Clinton is evenly matched against the two most likely Republican candidates, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Clinton trailed Walker in the poll 44-43. She managed a 41-41 tie against Jeb Bush.

I think it will be Walker, so we need a candidate or message to draw a clear contrast. There is a lot of anti-union sentiment out there, which Walker will tap into; so we need a strong pro-union voice. We need to make it cool to be in a union again.

These are the rules of the game - Hillary has to be elected to change the rules! And she said she would work to change the rules.

(145,291 posts)I imagine that a number of states may be in play. My dream is to see Texas in play. There is a 2013 poll that show that Texas could be in play for Hillary http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2013/01/clinton-could-win-texas.html
50% of Texas voters have a favorable opinion of Clinton to 43% with a negative one. She's universally well liked by Democrats (91/5) and a majority of independents view her positively as well (52/41). She holds narrow leads in hypothetical match ups with Marco Rubio (46/45) and Chris Christie (45/43) and a wider one in a contest against Rick Perry (50/42).
Speaking of Perry, Republicans in Texas have no interest in seeing him run for President again in 2016. Only 19% think he should make a bid to 70% who think he should not, and he ties for 7th in a 9 candidate field that we tested. Leading the way is Marco Rubio at 21%, followed by Mike Huckabee at 14%, Rand Paul at 13%, Jeb Bush and Paul Ryan at 11%, Chris Christie at 9%, Perry and Bobby Jindal at 4%, and Susana Martinez at 2%.
If Julian Castro is the VP candidate on a Clinton/Castro ticket, Texas might be closer or turn purple

Otherwise, I haven't had enough caffeine to process the idea that AZ may be going sane. At least a little.

(53,661 posts)Most are Catholics. But her support for abortion and same sex marriage which goes against their church teachings mean nothing to them in the voting booth.
They believe she is for the bigger picture in their lives and I have found the same from secularist and atheist, Jewish, Protestant and Catholics here where I live now. They have been wanting her to run since last year and tell me without being asked.
I was not surprised at her high level of support from public worker union members, as she supports their calling
There was less support for PBO in those women in Texas, but they felt HRC is a stronger leader. Whether that is a racial divide, I don't know. I can't think of any president who has fought off so many attempts to destroy this country as he has.
I think it's about different matters to different people, but I have a hard time getting real policy positions to argue for HRC. By that I mean current ones, as her language is too nuanced to fit in a sound bite.
Obama has had the same issue, he talks like a professor and he is constantly having to restrict his words to fit all the people. It makes him seem weak to some who go for the 'strong man' like Bush kind of leadership, but they will try to make the same case about Hillary. The record says otherwise, though. Both are very approachable people in the right mileau.
But there are some who just can't take a woman seriously, period. And their words speak volumes about themselves when they go off on her imagined sins.
But the enthusiasm for her has came from unexpected quarters in my life. From people who have mainly eschewed all things political. They have called all politicians crooks, but they don't see that in HRC.
I'm not sure what we would call this group of people, but they'll vote for HRC.

Ohio and Florida become safe blue states under Hillary and the battleground states become the Carolinas, Arizona, Virginia, Indiana and Arkansas.

I'm a socialist. Would I love to have a socialist President? Absolutely.
Do I want Republicans to hold all three branches of government for the foreseeable future? No effing way.

If HRC is the nominee and AZ is in play, she'll be spending a lot of time here. And, will (hopefully) reach out to my company!
I'll get you the pictures.
