Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumHey everyone. I'm no longer undecided.
I still like all our candidates, but I'm going for Hillary.
Interestingly enough, my 89 year old mom has also decided to vote for Hillary. And for some reason she was quite against her earlier.
My friend of over 25 years has also recently decided for Hillary.
I've been qualifying every post I make with "I'm undecided".
No more.
Now we just have to convince my sis, who hates every candidate lol.

(51,308 posts)I was extremely disappointed when she was not the nominee, but I did vote for Obama because he was our choice.
I think Hillary would have had a more successful administration.

(1,512 posts)My parents are for Bernie unfortunately, but they rarely vote in the primary, and will definitely vote for HRC in November. My brother votes for the idiots on the other side of the aisle.

(51,308 posts)I think many of the younger voters are believing the "pie in the sky" kinda thing.
This is real life.
Hillary can beat Trump and his odious supporters.

(26,076 posts)I don't think it was fake tbh. I work with college kids, and some really are like that outside their bubble.
I also dislike the anti South sentiment in the responses about her video. EVERY SINGLE STATE has racist knuckledraggers like that. I've liked in Chapel Hill, and now iive in the bluest blue in Florida.
Redistricting is what has allowed all these meatheads to be elected in the South. The same thing would happen in PA or MA if they were gerrymandered.
Trump has to be stopped.

(16,104 posts)I was a little leery of Obama in the 2008 primary - I really knew nothing about him - and seeing her name on the ballot really does something!
After Obama won the primary, I watched, I read his books, discovered he was extraordinary! Still to this day!
He was the right person at just the right time, no doubt about it!
But NOW is the time! Some things are just meant to be, and I have no doubt!
I am ready - like you - for another extraordinary candidate - and president!

Bernie has no chance in the south imo.

(38,437 posts)I successfully resisted the notion of allowing my despise of DU Sanders's supporters to cause me to dump Sanders.
BUT, after watching Sanders slowly shed the mantle of "a different kind of candidate" to show his true colors as just another mediocre career politician -- and willingness to fight dirty, I finally decided.
Funny how the mirage disappears when you get up close.

(2,538 posts)What helped you come to your decision, what was the catalyst?
cwydro
(51,308 posts)First of all, I'm a longtime Clinton supporter.
I loved Bill, with all his warts.
I think Bernie is not electable in the GE. No way. He cannot win the south.
I think Hillary can hit the ground running...and will be a great POTUS.
Those all seem like previously known or felt. Was there something that has just now helped you see a decisive reason to make up your mind?
Pardon my curiosity but I am looking for the key to help someone else get off the fence.
Thanks.
cwydro
(51,308 posts)Not one thing. Several.
The negativity coming from the Bernie supporters was not a plus for him
.
You know, it's funny, because as much as I hate to say it...I've been influenced by my mom. At the beginning of this race, she told me this. " Yes we need a female president, but I no longer think it is Hillary."
We've been watching everything , of course. and I read DU daily.
Couple days ago she just said, "it is time for a woman president."
So I quoted her words back at her re Hillary, and she said, "No I was wrong, I think I'll vote for her.
She's 89, and I reckon that swayed me. She's a pretty smart cookie.
At any rate, I'm a long time Hillary supporter. I'll go down fighting lol.

(213 posts)And my own mom passed in 2007 at 93. She was a yellow dog Dem (that's where I get it, I guess). Born and raised in Missouri, she was a "Truman gal". One of our most fun elections together was when Senator Claire McCaskill won in 2006. She was so excited to have a woman senator from Missouri. As a mother of five girls, (and three boys) she taught us that we could do anything our brothers could do. She loved Bill and Hillary Clinton and I know without a doubt that she would be so thrilled with Hillary in the election.
